On our recent California vacation we spent a few days at this hotel. We were returning guests. The room was clean and spacious however, there was a strong odor when we opened our door that smelled like cat urine. Once inside our room the odor was no longer present and our room smelled fine. It must have been outside of our room which was on the second floor, end unit closest to the lobby. The rooms had a nice neutral decor and was decorated tastefully. The lighting in the vanity area was a bit lacking but with the bathroom door open in the daytime, quite a bit of natural light did shine in. The bathroom was tiny but it served it purpose. I liked that the sink and vanity was outside of the bathroom so that it could be used even when someone else was in the bathroom.
Some reviewers mentioned difficulty with parking. We did not have trouble finding parking during our stay but one night we did have to park a bit further from the room (but not too bad). I do not recall having to pay for parking on our first visit to this motel but this time they did charge for parking which I was a bit surprised about. This is the first time I had to pay to park at an Anaheim motel but it sounds as if this is not the only motel charging for parking.
The first 2 nights our room was properly stocked and cleaned well. On the last night we returned from Disneyland very late. We were tired and thirsty and had planned to use the in room coffee maker to make some coffee/tea. However, when we got back to the room we realized that nothing had been restocked (coffee, tea, shampoo/conditioner and soap). I called the office and requested that some coffee packets be brought up and explained that nothing had been restocked. I was told to come down to the office to get the coffee. At this point I was already changed and ready for bed and I was too tired to head back out. I was told that if I had to have it brought to the room I would need to wait about an hour. We decided to skip the coffee.
Breakfast is an expanded buffet in a decent size room but it is not large enough to accommodate the number of people who were staying at this motel. Finding a table to sit at was challenging. They offered cereal, breads, fruit, yogurt, eggs, pancakes and sausage. Get there early because they run out of a lot of their offerings. I am not sure what the eggs really are but they looked odd and tasted even worse. The pancakes were very light -they had a "raw" look to them. The fruit and cereal was fine and that's pretty much what we eat at home anyway, so we were okay skipping the rest. It was nice to have yogurt when it was available. If there is no way to expand the breakfast area it may be a good idea to extend the times at least an hour to spread out the guests a bit. After a long night in Disney it would have been nice to sleep in a bit rather than wake up early if we wanted to have breakfast.
The pool was nice and clean and I love the topiary garden. This is one of the things I remembered about this hotel and was how I found it to return this year.
The location is ideal for those in he area for Disneyland. If you have small children who don't like to walk you may prefer to take the transportation. We did not use it so I cannot comment on that but I was told that the pickup/drop off is right by the hotel. The walk to the park is not bad. It took about 15-20 minutes to get to the entrance. * If you are in California Adventure there is an entrance/exit into the Grand Californian. If you exit the park through the hotel you can cut through the hotel lobby out the main entrance onto the street back to the hotel and save yourself some distance.
Overall we had a very nice quiet stay and the few downsides were minimal and tolerable. I would definitely stay here again.
