We booked a room for one night at this hotel via the Travelocity. com website. We chose it for the price and the convenient location based on the fact that it is one of the Choice family of hotels.
We arrived at the hotel at 3:45 p.m. (15 minutes before official check in time). The front desk told us that our room was not quite ready yet but that we could wait and it would be ready shortly. After several trips to the room to check on their progress, we finally were able to take occupancy of the room at 5:15.
The air conditioner was not running so the room was quite uncomfortable as this was a hot, humid day in Florida and the door to the room had been standing open for at least an hour and a half.
After the football game, we placed some items of perishable food in the refrigerator. The next morning when we started packing up to leave, I opened the refrigerator only to discover that it had apparently quit running sometime during the night and all of our food was ruined.
When I took my shower, the water temperature was difficult to adjust. The water would come out of the faucet at the perfect warm temperature but when the shower was turned on it was scalding hot.
My husband found a live cockroach in his bath towel.
The housekeeping staff pounded on our door at 9:30 a.m. when check out was clearly indicated as 11:00 a.m.
The electrical outlet apparently meant for the coffeemaker was not working so we had to set the coffeemaker over the sink while it was brewing the coffee. Clearly an unsafe situation.
To be fair, I must include that the room itself did not appear dirty or in bad repair so we were disappointed when we discovered all of the above equipment problems. However, the biggest disappointment was the total lack of acknowledgement on the staff's part that it ended up taking a full hour and a half for us to get into the room. I would caution travelers considering staying here to sit down in the lobby as a constant reminder to the front desk personnel that you are still waiting to occupy your room.
