“Worst Motel Ever!”

This is the worst night that I have ever spent in a Motel. Arrived into Sanford airport late in preparation for a cruise out of Port Canaveral the next day. Booked this room as a reasonably priced place for my family of 4 to "sleep" prior to getting up and going to the port the next day.

Highlights:
- Arrived at motel after midnight only to find that there were no non-smoking rooms. Our room reaked of smoke. Wall paper was peeling, Bed covers were 70's era cheap polyester. Room just looked dirty.
- Blue collar biker bar is the focus of this hotel.
- Upon arrival, the tattoo'd/ pierced front desk attendant told us that we not only had a "smoking room", but there was no where to park due to the popular bar. He said to park at the hotel across the street.
- It looked like the bar offered, not only alcohol, but prostitutes and drugs!. Several women in the lobby (bar was so crowded that it spilled into the lobby) were wearing one piece tube tops as there only garment.
- Got up the next morning and it looked like the bar had been replaced by a dog convention. People were everywhere walking there pets. Nothing against pets, but this just adds to the filth in the rooms.

Bottom line. A place like this ruins the Holiday Inn name.

“Awful Hotel, Stay anywhere but here.”

Holiday Inn Orlando Altamonte Springs

Positively awful one night stay in this hotel. When we arrived on a Friday night, three cop cars with their flashing lights on were in the parking lot and check in area, which is also where the entry into the "hotel bar" was located, which looked like the most dangerous bar in Orlando. Several people were walking around injured from what was obviously a bar fight the cops had been called in to break up. After 45 minutes of checking in, we went to our room only to discover that the chain was locked from the inside. We alerted the hotel manager and he said that the curtain must have incidently knocked the chain over but that he'd "get us in." While we were waiting for him to accompany us to the room to "get us in," a police detective began asking him questions about the bar incident. The manager instructed us and the detective to walk with him to the room. He then gave a profanity-laced description of the incident to the detective while we walked to the room on the other side of the hotel. Once there he opened the door, saw that it was locked from the inside and began kicking in the door to "get us in." About the third kick, a startled woman began screaming and the manager said, "Security! We thought this room was vacant!" It turns out that someone on day shift had not properly entered in their information. So, an hour and a half after we arrived we received a room, but obviously didn't get much sleep. This hotel is a disgrace and should be closed. Do not stay here.

“Won't stay again!”

I recently stayed at this hotel for buisness trip as it was close to the meeting location. I was very disappointed in the cleanliness of the hotel. Bedspread had such a sweaty smell had to remove it from the bed. Discovered large brown stain on topcover sheet, it was an old stain, but sheet should never have been used again. Shower/tub area moldy. Coffee supplies were half opened and used. Wireless acces though free, was difficult to access and maintain signal. It was a colder night in Florida, turning on the heat resulted in very musty smell, the room had an odor even without the heat. There is a local comedy club/bar in the hotel that is popular with the locals, leaves parking at night at the hotel a challenge.

We paid $99 rate that had a first night penalty for canellation or no show. Two of the other work colleauges also had similar issues with the hotel, none of us will stay again.

“Gross Hotel”

Holiday Inn Orlando Altamonte Springs

Inline with previous reviews. The only good thing about this hotel is the pool and front desk...and that is it! First, this is not a family hotel. There is a blue collar bar in the lobby that opens up to the pool that cranked loud until closing time. This is an old 1980's (or even 70s) hotel that has exterior corridors and a nasty breezeway connecting the bldg to the lobby. There appears to be a newer interior bldg where the rooms could be better. We had the $59 Hotwire rate and still paid too much for our outdated exterior room. The room was big and had a decent configuration, but the room was cruddy. The bath fixtures were falling off the wall, hot/cold water was invariable, old sink, and there was mold and dirt on the floor and grout. The carpet was starting to look worn, but the bed was clean and smelled good, although uncomfortable. The rooms have painted concrete walls, had border wallpaper to make it look like something. At this exit, you can have better at one of the newer hotels that have interior corridors and free breakfast. This is not a Disney destination hotel and would not let my kids wander to the ice machine or pool alone. It is sold as a 3 star hotel, but is more like a 2 star. Holiday Inn is an inconsistent brand, anyway - you never know what you will get with them, but my last few stays have been all negative. The retail on this hotel is low 100s per night. Not worth it.

My family of four arrived on a Friday evening for a seven night stay. We went into the lobby to be immediately assaulted with pounding music from the nightclub across the lobby - which appeared filled with underdressed and overweight middle-aged drunks. The drunks appear to have spilled over into the parking lot - where I had to walk our 5 and 8 year old daughters past groups of glowering men who seemed to be eyeing up our car with unusual interest. Unfortunately the stay did not improve from there.

The room itself was large enough, but shabby. The carpets were dirty and there was grime around the fridge, microwave and sink. The toilet made a constant water noise. The shower had a habit of alternating between scalding heat and freezing cold - resulting in loud yelps and jumps from whichever family member was using the shower. The room heater was very loud and blew out air that smelled like stale urine.

The second day we arrived back late, with a daughter urgently needing to use the restroom. The keycard would not work. We stood outside the room for 10 minutes before they got a maintenance man to fix it - something about faulty batteries in the electronic lock.

The phone would not dial out. Reception said they did not have our credit card on file - even though we gave it when checking in. I had to go back to reception to give them the credit card again. The next day the phone stopped working again. No apology - though they did fix it this time without making me to re-check in.

Housekeeping was a complete joke. Only two days out of seven did we get four clean towels replaced. One day they left no clean towels whatsoever. The tub was left with hairs in it and the sink counter was not even wiped. The housekeeper that was assigned to our room did not speak English - I am certain that all she did was make the bed and leave.

The pool is freezing - so cold that I did not once see anyone in it. The "gym" is barely adequate. I didn't dare try the food.

The only positive things I can say about this stay is that there was free in-room wireless internet (though on an unsecure network) and we did not get any bedbug bites. Do yourself a favour and find somewhere else to stay!
