when approaching san ignacio to stay at this hotel, we instantly thought it reminded us of Mexico, something we did not really want, but we ended up being pleasantly surprised. the village is amazingly friendly, and walking through it was a lot of fun at night, seeing the night life. the hotel is in a PERFECT location, we ended up cancelling our reservations with another hotel so we could just stay with casa blanca. it is AMAZINGLY clean and CUTE, and has a balcony overlooking the street to people watch, with restaurants right across the street and surrounding. we hung out at the internet place next door a lot with the cool owner, having beers, playing games, and people watching, and listening to drummers down the street. this hotel reminded us of a super nice hostel, which is VERY safe. easy access to guatemala (9 miles), ruins all around, and barton creek cave, etc.

I student taught in San Ignacio for 4 weeks. Because of a few issues while there with where I was staying, my roommate and I moved into Casa Blanca for the last 2 weeks. Because we were traveling around Belize on the weekends and dog-sat for a friend in San Ignacio for a few days, we were always moving around and the owner at Casa Blanca was so nice about everything. She had an opening and reserved for days we needed. Our beds were made and clean everday, the showers were HOT (which was not what we had seen the previous 2 weeks), the floors and everything were the CLEANEST we saw ANYWHERE, and the atmosphere was nice. It was a great little place-cable tv, shared microwave, refrigerator, couch, balcony. My roommate and I absolutely LOVED it and would reccommend it to anyone stopping in San Ignacio. San Ignacio is a great little place with wonderful locals! When I go back to Belize, I'm going to San Ignacio and staying at Casa Blanca!

“In the Center of San Ignacio”

Casa Blanca provides basic accomodations to those using San Ignacio as base for traveling to the nearby attractions, including Tikal and the caves. San Ignacio itself lacks the charm of either Placencia or the Cayes, and is a basically an unpleasant small urban area. Staying at Casa Blanca was good because it's right in the center of town (but is quiet), 5 minutes from the bus terminal, so restaurants, as well as tour agencies are all nearby - something you'll appreciate when leaving at 7am for a tour. It was also wonderful to have A/C because it gets very hot in San Ignacio and it's not on the coast, so you can't go for a swim to cool off. If you are looking for a place to relax and hang out, I wouldn't recommend staying within the center of San Ignacio, but if you are looking for a base to travel to nearby sites, this is a clean, affordable, and convenient place to stay.
