Our three week vacation in Guatemala and Belize included three nights at Cahal Pech Village Resort. As there were three of us, we had the choice of a suite, as part of their three-story hotel, or a private cabin, which we opted for. The cabins were removed from the busy activity of hotel and pool area, and included a wonderful large screened-in porch complete with hammock, a room fan though no air conditioner, and private bath. We had two double beds in our room and paid approximately $95 a night minus a discount, due to some confusion over their initial quote when we contacted them by phone.
Located in the hills above San Ignacio, the hotel is well situated to catch the breezes of afternoon and evening. The hotel includes two lovely pools, one of which caters to children with its imaginative spray fountain, and a covered, outdoor restaurant. The staff is polite, helpful and efficient, and caters to both English and Spanish speakers. They were quite helpful with in-town restaurant and tour recommendations.
The hotel itself is directly across from the Maya ruin Cahal Pech, just outside the town of San Ignacio, and is a short walk from a local bus that can drop you at the famous Maya ruin Xunantunich.
