“Great, peaceful and exceptionnal service”

Casa Maya Eco Resort

16 Apr 2007

We staid at Casa Maya Resort just one week before Eastern and it was a great experience. We researched at tripadvisor and on the Casa Maya website and knew exactly what to expect.

Yes, of course we could have saved a lot of money in renting a car but we enjoyed our vacation, not care for anything, have excursions in privacy, with a very knowledgable guide (Bill the driver of Casa Maya) and whenever it was necessary they even hired a guide on site to get even more information.

The food is very good, several courses and it's a touch of Belize, Central America, and Germany in the meal plan thanks to Al the German/American owner. Very nice place with incredible nature and some nice people around.

Please listen to the silence at night - it is so peaceful that you can hear the silence. Good relation of what you get and waht you pay.

Casa Maya Eco lodge has great cabanas with 20-foot tall thatched roofs. The room was VERY large and had two queen beds, a table with 2 chairs, walk-in closet, and a large bathroom that was the length of the room. The only downside is that the finish is very rough with almost no amenities. If you're looking for luxury don't stay here...but this is an ECO lodge so how could you complain?!? The expansive grounds at the hotel were expertly maintained. We didn't eat at the hotel and it didn't look like we missed anything special.

We HIGHLY recommend renting a car if you go to San Ignacio. It's expensive for rent and gas, but you save a ton of money by going to the various Mayan ruins on your own. The only tour that you're required to have a guide for is the ATM cave. This was an incredible experience and it's not to be missed if you can stand dark caves. There are thousand year ago artifacts and human skulls in the final chamber and the trip through the cave to get there was great. Ask for the guide Eddie Panti at the tour company.

Our stay at Casa Maya Resort was a very delightful experience. Its location in the jungle is simply paradise. The food, host and accomadations were great. The serenity of Casa Maya is second to none with the beautiful flora, fauna and wildlife running abound.

“Gorgeous and Serene”

Casa Maya Eco Resort

I've traveled to Belize many times and find the Casa Maya Resort to be one of the most beautiful and tranquil resorts I've had the privilege to stay at. The atmosphere there is very friendly and accommodating and the owner and staff were always willing to make me feel at home. The food was delicious and was actually prepared by the owner himself who took me to the "farmers' market" a couple of times to pick out some of the delicious fruits and vegetables that are grown in Belize. The Resort has many spacious (and I mean "huge") cabanas which have thatched roofs towering over 30 feet high. The cabanas are well-screened so no critters can get in and have large bathrooms with lots of hot water. The other thatched buildings are the screened-in dining room, a conference-type area and the open-air bar and dance floor which leads down to a fabulous patio by the large pool. The grounds are filled with lush tropical vegetation and it is just wonderful to relax and look at the beautiful plants and watch a flock of parrots go whizzing by. If you want to enjoy a peaceful setting, this is the place, and if you desire, the owner will be happy to set you up with excursions to many of the Mayan ruins or a rafting adventure down the river or just a leisurely horseback ride. The wonderful people at Casa Maya will make your trip the most pleasant one you've ever had.

We're just come back from a great trip into Belize and Guatemala and the mot relaxing vacation we had at Casa Maya Reostr near San Ignacio. The very exciting things on Casa Maya are the big cabanas covered with palm leaves, new and big bath rooms, a great restaurant and bar with the leaves on the roof too and a swimming pool. There is such a beautiful nature and the best: Amazing food prepared by the owner himself.
After we told to him that we miss our Italian pasta we had a pasta (and very athentic too) every nicht in addition.
This is such a beautiful place with good vibrations and friendly helping people evrywhere.
Tha staff are very young and in a very good mood all the time. They had to work within a lot of days with rain. But as we were in this beautiful place we did not miss the sun.
Everything in Belize is now very muddy because of this much ran.
We made excursions in privacy - no other people in the car and a guide for just us - and the oadswere very bad. They should do something with these bad roads (but they're very bad in Guatemala too).
We recommedn Casa aya to everybody who want the very speacial exprience in Belize
Cheers
