“Wonderful place”

Stayed at the Ka'ana during a stay in San Ignacio. New Hotel which opened this winter after a dry start in March.
Location is great right off the road (which they call Highway in belize since it is paved despite the fact that there are only two lanes). Rooms were wonderful and staff especially the manager were very nice and accomodating.
We also went to the Chaa Creek Lodge for dinner/tour. That is more remote and harder to access (have to drive about 10 or so minutes in unpaved roads) but also seemed nice and had a bigger estate in which it was located.
I was glad I stayed at Ka'ana since it was an excellent hotel with easy access to the roads/town.

This hotel is all class. From the front desk to the rooms to the restaurant, this is all 5 stars. The Mayan Ruins are so close! There are birds all over the place, try the spa also. I recommend this resort to everyone!

Well what can I say? We're thoroughly impressed with our stay at Ka'anna.

Romantic, intimate, refreshing and beautiful are my selected adjectives for this wonderful boutique resort nestled quaintly in the Cayo district of Belize.

We spent four nights at this property because they were running a summer special that offered us a 4th night free for spending three nights, a 60 minutes massage for me and my fiancé, a complimentary lunch (with no guidelines!), assorted fruit basket and nice welcome drinks (we opted for non-alcoholic)!

We rented a car from Discount Car Belize (one of the more reasonably priced car rental companies) and took off for Ka'anna! The western highway is a fun drive which is well paved, easily accessible for anyone who wants to drive themselves. I do believe Ka'anna's shuttle fee is way too expensive.

Once we arrived we were immediately upgraded from our queen room reservation to a King Villa, free of charge! Now how is that for a welcome!? The villa was breathtaking! HUGE beautiful king sized bed with fresh white linens and a very nice down comforter. Huge 42" LCD TV mounted on the wall was very nice along with a large assortment of channels and HBO (we liked Discovery and National Geographic to keep us in the adventure mood), remote controlled AC was nice and cool and convenient and French doors that led to a large personal wooden veranda that opened up into the jungle. The entire villa is decorated with beautiful mayan artwork and sculptures crafted by locals, which creates the perfect atmosphere and ambience for a place like this. The bathroom was awesome with dual bowl sinks and a walk in shower with unlimited (it seemed) hot water. Did I mention the place was spotless and draped with fresh exotic flowers when we arrived?

We adventured very, very hard, and it was soo nice to come back to stress-free bliss like Ka'anna. Room service was quick, staff was very nice, helpful and polite, and the food was delicious and very very reasonably priced. I'm not a huge food critic, but there was a great ethnic assortment that allows you to taste the local dishes, or have a nice taste of home if you like.

Here is my only con to be advised of: Ka'anna charges for their tours on parties based of 4. If there are only two of you, this can be VERY expensive. If this is the case, I suggest finding yourself a tour company that charges per person, and will accommodate only two (this is especially applicable in the off-season). Email me for suggestions. Staff at the "activity desk" wasn't very helpful when it came to these adventures as an FYI. We saw Tikal, Xunantunich, ATM, etc.. Again, this is only an advisory, and in no way should stop you from staying at this resort, just setup your tours in advanced if you're on a budget and don't want to pay for four people if there’s only two of you!

The spa was very nice, a little too cold inside, and the massage wasn't the best I've gotten, but very relaxing with hot stones.

A special thank you to Ka'anna, for making two crazy adventurers at home. We had the adventure of our lives in Tikal and ATM, and found peace and warmth after our strenuous, dirty, sweaty and long adventures!

Had a really stressful week dealing with people from abroad and needed a break. Went to San Ignacio Hotel (where I had stayed before) full as it was Hurricane Dean was due to pay a visit to the area the next day. Anywhere else to stay? They suggested Ka'ana. Trotted along and they had vacancies and it was super clean and bright and fresh and the staff spoke to calmly and carefully to someone stressed out! - me! I was shown numerous rooms, even managed to negotiate a slightly better rate and then escorted to my room. The bathroom was clean and the tiled walk-in shower was lovely with oils and Rub-a-Dub Soap (good to see as it is a Belizean -owned company who produce beautiful soaps). The shower wasn't one of those where you used 25 gallons per second (quite gross in the jungle methinks) - just a nice steady stream.
I checked the menu - which was extensive and decided to go into San Ignacio for a bite to eat. Tried getting into my trusty jalopy truck and it wouldn't start. To cut a very long story short - the staff were beyond brilliant. I have to mention Mr Perez who helped me (in the dark) by trying to charge my battery and diagnose the problem. It was even suggested by Abner, the accountant that should I drive into town and break down again then if I phoned the Resort someone would come and get me. Is that not great service? As a woman on my own I felt great. Anyway, after really trying hard the truck didn't even whimper. I knew a mechanic who I said I would phone the next morning. I decided to have dinner at the Resort and had room service delivered. Lovely presentation and brought with a warm smile and 'enjoy your meal'. The television was a good size and quality, the furnishings were great. The bar snacks were just out of date (they may want to check that.)
The resort I have been told is being run by some young entrepreneurs from Europe (Ireland?) - well they are doing an excellent job. The infinity pool looked inviting and clean, the grounds were young growth but tidily done.

The next morning, after sleeping like a baby in the fine quality bedclothes, I phoned the mechanic who was ready to turn up that very second but delayed him whilst I had a shower and organised myself for a no-panic check-out. The mechanic came and managed to get the vehicle started. This was just too easy and stress-free - the very reason why I needed a break-away from home and they ensured it was achieved.
One small issue is to just ensure the front desk knows what's happened in the rooms as there was a little issue of what had been taken from the room fridge. Nothing major but just unnecessary to have it queried without anyone checking properly. I only mention this for the Resorts sake and I am confident that that wouldn't happen again.
Overall, I will take this as my regular haunt and will stay there when we have visitors from abroad who want an extra special experience.
Do I recommend it? Whole-heartedly. As the man says 'I'll be back!'

For our 10th Anniversary we decided to get away and spend some romantic alone time somewhere beautiful. Boy, did we hit the jackpot! A friend told us about Kaana and we were told that the resort is relatively new but you would never know visiting it. It is fully staffed with professional, courteous, young men and women who are ready to attend to your requests and answer your questions. The Landscaping was beautifully laid out with tropical plants and trees, many of the trees were labeled so you can wander along the paths identifying avocado, all-spice and gumbo-limbo.

Our room was elegantly decorated with handcrafted wood, white sheets and local art. It includes all the amenities including, flat-screen TV, I-Pod docking station, espresso machine, robes, extra pillow and fancy lotions and soaps. The bed was super comfy and everything was fresh and clean.

For dinner we walked to the restaurant and sat outside under the trees listening to the birds by candlelight (I said it was romantic!). The food was fantastic. At first we thought it was a little pricey, but after tasting it was well worth it. I had the steak with blue cheese and my husband had the fish – amazing! When we returned to our room and someone had closed the curtains, turned down the bed and left chocolates for us in the fridge.

Overall we were very, very impressed with everything at Kaana. We will definitely return and next time we will spend more time in the beautiful pool and take advantage of the spa.

If you want an upscale romantic getaway – this is the place!
