We jsut returned from Ka'ana for 5 nights. We thought the rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The location off the main road proved to work out fine for us even though it would have been nice to stay in the rainforest area. My biggest concern was the price of the food. Our standard entree was $30usd plus 22% tax. This is WAY too much for a new property. We ened up taking the public bus (right on the main road) into San Igancio and enjoying the restaurants there for a fraction of Ka'ana's costs. Also, Ka'ana's trips to the local ruins or activites was extremely high. Some of the trips we coordinated on our own with the public bus. The other trips could be booked in town. The staff at Ka'ana were for the most part were good and trying. Wibur, the activies director, was FANTASTIC and a wealth of information. Great personality and great asset to the property. The head chef was also very personable. Benedicto and Shakira also get the thumbs up for their people skills and service levels. Nick, the general manager, made a point of meeting with the clients and asking their experiences. We really enjoyed that personal level of service and their commitment to the property.
All in all, we enjoyed the property but felt the food costs and activites costs were out of line.
