We just returned from 8 nights in Belize - 3 of which where at Ka'ana. It was a fabulous experience, beginning with the hotel's driver picking us up from BZE. We found all of the staff to be very pleasant, well-groomed / dressed, and willing to help make our stay better if possible.

As we were there over Easter weekend, the restaurant had a small menu of few choices. However, when they realized we'd pre-paid all our dinners to be there, they offered to substitute the regular menu or the bar tapas menu any night. We had the Easter specials the first night, which were delicious! Ordered off the terrific regular menu the second, and had simple, really, really good pizza in the bar the next night. You absolutely MUST try the breakfast burrito - I'm craving one right now!

We booked tours through Ka'ana to Tikal and a zip-line / cave-tubing combo. Our guide, Wilbert, was FANTASTIC! Very reassuring when needed (driving on the crazy roads to Tikal), very well informed about all kinds of things (history, jungle plants, etc), and lots of fun.

The only less-than-stellar experience was the massage. I'd opt out of that the next time, but it wasn't horrible...just not as wonderful as everything else we did.

We'd highly recommend Ka'ana to any of our family and friends.

We jsut returned from Ka'ana for 5 nights. We thought the rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The location off the main road proved to work out fine for us even though it would have been nice to stay in the rainforest area. My biggest concern was the price of the food. Our standard entree was $30usd plus 22% tax. This is WAY too much for a new property. We ened up taking the public bus (right on the main road) into San Igancio and enjoying the restaurants there for a fraction of Ka'ana's costs. Also, Ka'ana's trips to the local ruins or activites was extremely high. Some of the trips we coordinated on our own with the public bus. The other trips could be booked in town. The staff at Ka'ana were for the most part were good and trying. Wibur, the activies director, was FANTASTIC and a wealth of information. Great personality and great asset to the property. The head chef was also very personable. Benedicto and Shakira also get the thumbs up for their people skills and service levels. Nick, the general manager, made a point of meeting with the clients and asking their experiences. We really enjoyed that personal level of service and their commitment to the property.
All in all, we enjoyed the property but felt the food costs and activites costs were out of line.

My husband and I and 2 friends just came back from this resort, and enjoyed the peaceful setting. The rooms are quite cute and very clean as is the rest of the hotel. The food was a hit and miss, it was either fabulous or something to be desired. Unfortunatley we did find the food overpriced as well in some cases. Our server Ramone was so sweet even though he is still learning, but his genuine kindness and sweetness over road any of his lack of abilities. We had a extremely hard time with getting any pool service at all some of the days. However our driver/tour guide Wilbert was absolutely the best!!! friendly, funny and very very helpful. As well we had a young apprentice named Benidicto that also truly made our stay better as well. All of us also really enjoyed our massages and pedicures! The spa is worth trying for sure..

Like I said before the rooms were very clean, however one day you would have coffee the next you wouldnt the same goes for turndown service, ice, face cloths, night time treats etc etc, but management always fixed the problem immediatly. I think once they work out the kinks as they are a new resort, all will be perfect. I do believe at $455.00 a night plus 21% tax on everything and I mean everything, that they will have to up the service to 5 star. How ever I still would happily recommend this place to anyone. Just bear in mind that they are still working out some kinks....

“Coziest & Sexiest Place in San Ignacio!”

Ka'ana Boutique Resort

11 Jan 2008

Absolutely one of the most pleasant places I have stayed. The entire staff (from the front desk, to the chef, the bartender, the spa staff, the waiters, the executive staff) was so accommodating, friendly, attentive and sociable. You are welcomed with a delicious rum punch, then given a private tour of the wine cellar. The rooms are so cute, & clean with a front & back deck with lounge chairs & hammocks surrounded by beautiful landscaping. The bed is so incredibly comfortable. The staff will give you the best tour guides, and make all of your arrangements for you. For this hotel to be so new, it can only get better from here. I stayed for 7 days and to top it off, you are invited to plant your own tree in their garden prior to departing. I definitely recommend this hotel!

“Wonderful place”

Stayed at the Ka'ana during a stay in San Ignacio. New Hotel which opened this winter after a dry start in March.
Location is great right off the road (which they call Highway in belize since it is paved despite the fact that there are only two lanes). Rooms were wonderful and staff especially the manager were very nice and accomodating.
We also went to the Chaa Creek Lodge for dinner/tour. That is more remote and harder to access (have to drive about 10 or so minutes in unpaved roads) but also seemed nice and had a bigger estate in which it was located.
I was glad I stayed at Ka'ana since it was an excellent hotel with easy access to the roads/town.
