My friend and I were on a budget holiday so we booked this place, having backpacked a lot I didn't have high expectations but this room was tiny, tiny, tiny, with no room to put anything.

The worst part was that the water from the shower was literally dripping in small drops, we asked for it to be fixed but nothing was done for the whole time we spent there.

Didn't find the staff friendly, definitely not a place where I would go back.

My husband and I stayed at the Seaspray Hotel along with 3 other couples and 2 friends in April of this year, and were quite happy with the accommodations. The staff was happy to work with our large party, and while I got the impression that Belizeans in general are very laid back, no one was ever rude or unhelpful toward us. (In fact, the relaxed atmosphere was exactly why we chose to visit Placencia to begin with!) We were in the Sea Star room, #19, which was on the second floor and had a private balcony looking out over the ocean. The sunrises were beautiful, and we were right on the water. There was a bit of seagrass in the water, but it wasn't terrible and you only had to walk up the beach a bit to avoid it. The food at the De Tach Cafe next door was decent (breakfast was great) and could be charged directly to our room at the Seaspray. One morning we even saw dolphins jumping in the water while having breakfast. Our room was very clean and included a small fridge and tile floor. Housekeeping came and cleaned and changed our sheets every day for the week that we were there. All in all, the room was a good deal and we really enjoyed our experience there.

My sister and I originally planned on staying at the Seaspray for four nights but left after two because we had such a bad time here. We booked a budget room and the only thing I can think of is that the other posters here booked one of the private cabanas or upscale rooms because our experience is in no way reflective of the reviews we read before booking this place.

When you book a budget room, you don't expect much and the room would have been adequate enough - two simple beds, a shower, toilet and sink. However, we at least expected that the staff would come to our room and fix our toilet when we told them it was overflowing (they didn't). We found the front desk staff to be very unfriendly and unhelpful. They didn't even offer any recommendations when we asked them about tours. The woman who I assume to be the owner was miserable.

I would not recommend this place. Perhaps the other reviews are of nicer rooms but if you're doing a trip inexpensively we saw numerous other options in Placencia for the same price that were way better.

We enjoyed our stay the Sea Spray. We had room 21 which we found fit our needs. The king bed was great--nice and hard. It was the most private of the rooms and you fell asleep to the sound of the surf. We did have power outage on the first two days but not for long and no water one day but not for long. The staff was very nice and friendly. The food at DeTache was very good but didn't have some items on the menu. They could have had more beach chairs. The ocean was very murky and there was a lot of trash in the water and well as a lot of sea grass. So there are good things and not so good things about the Sea Spray but for the money it is a very good place to stay and we would stay there again.
