It has now been over a week since we are back home in Vermont (and Arizona). I can't tell you all how much we enjoyed our stay at the villas. Each and everyone of the staff was great and provided excellent service. Special thanks go to Percy Gordon who is a geat ambassador for Belize. His jungle and snorkeling tours were the best and really opened our eyes to your great country. We all hold a special place in our hearts for Belize and plan on returning as soon as we can. Chabil Mar was great and Placencia was so low key and truly a pleasure.

Great hotel for those who want to get away from it all. If you are looking for even a slight crowd however this is probably a little too quite (try the Turtle Inn up the road, which is also excellent).

There is a restaurant/kitchen on site, but it's served ANYWHERE you want on the site, rather than in a traditional restaurant. We loved the great food and loved that we could enjoy it in our room (no extra), on our private deck, on the beach, by the pool or on the little hut over the water....just order it up and the service was fast.

I do agree that it would be nice to have a permanent bartender, but we found he came very quickly when we called and made a great drink. Just don't hesitate to call...they are complete helpful and fast.

What a great get away (A/C, kitchens in room, .... everything). If you want a little more of a spa experience or a few more people around, you might try the equally nice Turtle Inn slightly north.

Everything is great. The butlered food service was a concern before we went, but a highlight once we were there. If you're looking for Cuban cigars, go up the beach to the competition, but I hope you don't get thirsty because the drinks are twice as expensive as at Chabil Mar. I would happily change my rating from 4 to 5 stars if there had been a full time bartender at Chabil Mar's bar. Although you can easlier call and have a drink brought to you anywhere, it would have been nice to sit at the bar a while as well. Get a golf cart and explore the town. Try a seaweed smoothie. Highly recommended.

Two friends and I stayed recently had an incredible stay at Chabil Mar Villas in Placencia. The resort environment is lushly landscaped which enhances the beautiful architecture. The majority of the living units have an incredible view of the beach and the sea. The 2 BR plus loft unit that we stayed in was very large with its expansive two story great room and deck. The location is perfect...a 10 min ride into the village (golf cart type vehicles are available as well as bicycles). In addition to the two swimming pools there are paddle boads and cayaks for your use. What distinguishes Chabil Mar from other resorts in Placencia is its laid back and friendly atmosphere. Other visitors were like us....eager to spend time exploring nearby village restaurants and beach bars, but appreciiating reading or hanging out in the relaxing, safe atmosphere of the resort grounds. The management and staff were very helpful in arranging tours of nearby Monkey River and fishing/snorkeling excursions as well as serving food and drinks when requested. Having spent some time investigating other resorts in Placencia, we were very glad we made the choice to stay at Chabil Mar.
