Absolutely gorgeous! We have been to many tropical paradises, but none compare with the individual treatment and beautiful facilities as Casa at Last. Cat and Dale are the most gracious hosts you can imagine. The villas are gorgeous and, if you want, you never really have to leave the grounds! Love the pool and hot tub! This is our third of many more visits. Thank you so much, Cat & Dale.

Casa At Last is such a great spot I've had to visit twice while I've been in Belize. Due to the care which Cat and Dale have put into it, it is private, secure, peaceful and beautiful. The grounds are well maintained and the thatched roof cabanas are gorgeous. There are numerous spots to relax on site as well as a pristine beach just across the street. While my boyfriend and I stayed there, we paddled along the river and lagoon in kayaks and went fishing off the dock. Placencia, where many tours leave from, is only 20 minutes down the road. Cat, who is a fantastic cook, made such incredible meals that we didn't have any desire to go eat anywhere else. The fresh seafood that Cat prepares is some of the best I've ever had - and I'm from Maine, where seafood abounds. Cat and Dale are friendly hosts, always available when needed and were more than helpful when any questions came up during our stay. Best thing about Casa? It's a toss up between the hot tub you can loll in under the stars, or Cat's fantastic cooking.

We stayed at Casa at Last for three nights the first week of April, 2007 and we had a wonderful time!

The owners, Dale and Cat, were just getting started with Casa at Last after owning a resort in the Bahamas. In fact, only two of the four cottages were ready and the hot tub wasn't yet operational yet. Casa At Last was so new and currently under the radar that the tourism office in Placencia did not have them listed yet (we had some gelato while the tourism office tracked down the location).

Though we were visiting during the busy Easter weekend, we were the only guests, so they offered us a free upgrade to the Fantasea cottage. The cottages are luxury: brand new construction with thatched roofs, hardwood floors, regional ceramic tiling; overall very tastefully decorated. The mini-kitchen (the other cottage had a full kitchen) had all new appliances including a toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker and satellite tv. The Fantasea cottage had an enclosed patio where we took our breakfast every morning.

Casa At Last is a private, secluded getaway, almost like a vacation rental. The location is right off the Placencia lagoon, which pretty much runs the entire Placencia peninsula. The beach is about a 3 minute walk away. The property is beautiful. Wonderful wood decks by the pool area and a boat dock. The boat dock had a huge hammock and palapa and there are kayaks for exploring the lagoon. The bars are self serve, with chilled beer mugs and a Belikin beer on tap!

The nearest services were a couple of miles away, so you might want to consider renting a car if you plan on going into town a lot. This wasn't a problem for us, since we just hung around at the resort and the nearby beach and took taxis to grab dinner. Continental breakfast (coffee, juice, toast and carrot cake) is provided, so you can enjoy a lazy, vacation morning.

One of the highlights of our stay was the snorkeling tour that Cat arranged a snorkeling tour for us with Ed. It costed a little more than the tours from in town, but we had a private tour and door to door service, conveniently picking us up at the dock. Ed is an underwater photographer and so definitely knows all the types of fishies and how to find them. It was by far the best snorkeling tour that we ever experienced.

Overall, we had an excellent time at Casa At Last and would highly recommend it to couples looking for a relaxing time on an amazing, luxury property.

We spent our honeymoon at Casa at Last and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. For 4 of the 6 nights we stayed at Casa at Last we had the run of the entire 6 acres to ourselves. For the final 2 nights there was only 1 other couple on the grounds. Dale and Cat are wonderful hosts: each morning we awoke to a plate of fresh fruit and pastries and freshly squeezed juice and ate breakfast on the front porch overlooking the beautiful gardens. The pool has a fully stocked honor bar and all the makings for frozen drinks. There are kayaks for exploring the mangrove waterways on the lagoon and fishing gear for fishing the lagoon. There are also bikes provided, but given the state of the roads there are not many place to bike to. The beach is across the street from Casa at Last - about a 5 minute walk - but is not cleared and is really only a very small patch of sand.

We stayed in the Casa de Passione - it was a beautiful open air cabana well furnished with many local handcrafted items. It had an air conditioning but we did not need it during our time there.

Bugs were not bad. We saw no mosquitos during our time there. We did get a couple bites from some biting flies that swelled somewhat.

For those wanting a lively accomodation in the center of bars and restaurants look for lodging in the town of Placencia. Casa at Last is a 10-15 min drive down bumpy roads to Placencia (cab fare $12 US one way). We wanted a small private, intimate feel for our honeymoon rather than a large resort with lots of other people and this is exactly what we found at Casa at Last.
