Our stay at the Cotton Tree Lodge in July was fantastic. We usually travel to cities and so we were curious as to whether there would be enough to do during our stay at the lodge, but it far exceeded our expectations. Everyone on the staff was so kind, and the excursions every day were great. We really enjoyed visiting Eladio Pop's cacao farm and going on the Blue Creek adventure. The accommodations are beautiful, with handcrafted furniture and relaxing views of the river. The food was delicious, too - I am a vegetarian and my dietary restrictions were not a problem. The Lodge is a real gem, and if you want to get away from everything, and truly relax, this is the place to go. Kudos to Chris and his team for creating such a magical, inspiring place!

The most amazing place I have EVER stayed. After travelling a fair bit of the world I can say that Cotton Tree Lodge is the most impressive.

Beautiful grounds set IN the Toledo jungle. The site is right on the Moho river - our balcony overlooked it. Great swimming and kayaking. Howler monkeys in the distance, hummingbirds outside the window, Fresh fruit growing all around you, and boardwalks to allow jungle exploration without jungle injuries!

Only 10 well appointed cabanas makes you feel part of a village not an outsider at a hotel. Cabanas are very comfy, good beds, hot water (and lots of it), solar powered so no grid issues, and truly traditional with thatched roofs and all wood interiors. Everything cleaned perfectly every day with an eye towards going the extra mile (insect removal etc). Lots of screened openings and ceiling fans keep it surprisingly cool (and I hate being hot), and the rich aromas of the jungle are second only to Kendra's cooking.

Which leads me to the staff - simply wonderful. Professional, personable, efficients, and with a "nothing is too much trouble" attitude. Need a little extra time for breakfast - can do. Want
dinner privately in your cabana- no sweat. Want a massage - we'll call Joyce (don't miss her magic hands). Need a ride - we got ya covered. Heck they even waited with us at the crossroads and flagged the bus down for us. They treated is and all the other guests like royalty.

You would think that's it but wait there's more. Not only are the trip/tour guides local Maya who REALLY know their stuff but most trips are included in your stay, as are all meals and
anything else you need - except booze of course. No being gouged an extra $50-100 bucks to see the ruins or make chocolate the traditional Mayan way (don't miss
Abilena in San Felipe).

So to sum it up - RUN, don't walk to book at Cotton Tree Lodge. It truly is paradise!

Our entire experience with Cotton Tree was wonderful--from the time we made reservations to the time we got back home and they followed up with us about our stay. The best thing was that we actually relaxed our minds and bodies while on vacation while being able to enjoy all the tours we had set out to do.

First I want to say that working with Holly on our reservations was great. She definitely went above and beyond the call of duty when she answered my many e-mails about the different tours and activities around the Lodge. I have never had such wonderful service even before getting to our destination.

Once we got to the Lodge in the evening we were welcomed with a cocktail; which was much appreciated after the long day of travel. The showed us right to our room and let us know that our dinner would be available shortly. The rooms are absolutely beautiful. The craftsmanship of the carved wood beds and dressers and doors was fabulous (Actually all of the wood details throughout the Lodge area were beautiful). We loved the screened windows that surrounded the entire room. The "huts" are far enough apart from one another that you get enough privacy but are not secluded. We could definitely relax in our rooms without feeling closed or boxed in. We also suprisingly did not have problems with bugs in our room. With being in the middle of the rainforest you expect it but we did not. Once in awhile we would see some ants on the floor but that was it.

The Main lodge was a great place to visit with the other guests. It is open and airy and everyone would come and go, sit and read and eat. It is the gathering place for everyone to tell each other about their day. Everyone dines together which is very nice. Sharing of experiences and meeting new people make staying here even better. And having Buddy (the Lodge dog) and Mr. Miss (the lodge cat) made the stay feel even more at home. They both loved all of the attention from all of the guests.

All of the food was excellent. We loved everything that was prepared. It was also nice to get enough food so that we did not feel hungry at all after the meals. Dinners came with an appetizer, soup, salad, meal and dessert. What more could anyone want? So when you see the price for the dinners just know that they definitey fill you up. One of the best things about Cotton Tree too is that they have their own garden and chickens, etc that they use for their meal preparation.

Booking tours through Cotton Tree was easy and nice. Everyone at the Lodge went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and they would ask us what time do we want to leave for the tour and made sure we did not have dietary restrictions for when they made our lunch. If they did not have a tour for something we wanted to do/see theyPOST /BatchReviewTool?

We had an amazing stay here. The location is a bit hard to get to, but when we did we were glad for it because we were completely away from it all, nestled in the jungle. The cabanas are exquisitely built, and are high on stilts, making you feel like you're sleeping in a treehouse. The sounds of the jungle are all around you. We were there at the beginning of the rainy season, and got to fall asleep to the rain every night. Everything was comfortable and well-appointed, including hot and cold water, but designed for minimal ecological disruption. Compost toilets, solar energy, etc.
The staff was wonderful and friendly, and went out of their way to direct us toward places and activities we might otherwise not have known about. The food was good, and there was plenty of it. The coffee wasn't the best, although that seemed to be an issue throughout Belize. Overall, it was an absolute joy to be there. The vibe, the sense of community at the lodge, the immersion into the jungle and the surrounding Mayan villages there, and the beauty of the place combine into a totally unique and uplifting experience.
