Stayed at the Clarion Guatemala city during the last 2 days of Samana Santa, after a mix up with our hotel in Antigua Guatemala. The hotel is very clean and immaculately kept. It seems like relatively new construction. It is in the center of zone 10 , which is very quiet and safe (it felt like I was in a US city ). We were given a beautiful suite with a full living room, bedroom and bathroom. Water pressure is great and water is HOT. We were also given 2 complimentary drink coupons for the bar and free cab ride back to the airport. For the price we paid, I was VERY satisfied.
Only issues I had was 1) no free internet - but I guess with the prices they have, its not really that big of a deal
2) they are located in a business section of town, so late at night , there is not much open in the area. Also, most the restaurants in that area cater to tourists so you don't get very authentic Guatemala cooking, but the food is good and reasonably priced, though still expensive for central America (not expensive by western Standard)

I would stay there again, though I may also try to find something a little more boutique next time, but all in all, its a GREAT place...

My friend and I arrived at 9:30 in the morning, hoping they would hold our luggage while we looked around the city until check-in time. Instead, they let us check in immediately, and everything about the process was very smooth. The two of us rented a suite so we could each have a room, and that worked out fine -- one of us slept on the sleeper sofa in the living room, which can be closed off from the bedroom. The environs of the hotel is an upscale enclave in an eminently non-upscale city -- lots of nice restaurants, other fairly pricey hotels, expensive shops, etc. The hotel has all the amenities you would expect in a nice hotel -- including well-stocked mini-bar, washcloths wrapped in little ribbons, modern faucets of a sort we didn't see elsewhere in Guatemala. The furnishings were a tad raggedy, but hey, this isn't L.A..

Just stayed at the Clarion Suites for two nights and found everything very satisfactory. A staff member saw me arrive by taxi, picked up my bags and did a fast check-in.
Great rooms (suites) with individual lounge and bedroom, everything worked.
Did some business meetings at the hotel, the lunch buffet was varied and above standard.
Looks as though they have good security which is important.
There are plenty of resturants etc. in the touristy area close to the hotel.
In all a good stay.

This hotel is located in Zone 10 and is convenient to plenty of restaurants, shopping and nightlife. I had a chance to stay in an executive suite at this property in 2007 and really had a nice experience. This time, I got a room on one of the Elite Floors and had an even better experience. Having access to the happy hour and breakfast lounge area this time was very comfortable. The food and drinks during happy hour and breakfast were both excellent. The staff of the hotel really made us feel welcome and were available to answer any questions about hotel ammenities and the places to go while in Guatemala City. The Elite Floor benefits were well worth the minimal additional room cost. I will definitely return to this hotel the next time my travels bring me to the area.
