“Good experience”

The hotel met the normal good standards of the Radisson chain.

The only fault I found with the hotel was a lack of reasonable internal restaurants and bars. However, there were many excellent choices within a short walking distance in the Zona Viva. Probably why the hotel does not bother too much.

I booked online direct with the hotel and was upgraded to junior suite, which was spacious and very comfortable. Contrary to previous posts I found all the staff extremely polite and helpful, including the front desk who went out of their way to assist with a minor problem. Housekeeping were also excellent.

I would recommend locally as a bar, the Shakespeare, extremely friendly and good value, on the corner diagonally right. As a restaurant I enjoyed La Boqueria, opposite left, which although a little expensive provided quality Spanish food and good wine.

I would stay here again.

We stayed at the Radisson while visiting our soon-to-be adopted daughter. Many members of the staff were very warm and helpful, especially the concierge and housekeeping staff. They were absolutely wonderful. The front desk staff, however, is curt and unfriendly. We were forced to change rooms during our visit because of a maintenance issue and they put us in a smaller room. We had booked and paid for a suite but had to fight them to charge us the lesser price for the smaller room even though it was their fault we had to move. The biggest problem we had is that the shuttle to airport was very late and the only reason seemed to be that the driver wasn't finished smoking cigarettes with his friend. We left 45 minutes later than the scheduled shuttle departure, just sitting on the stairs waiting for him to take us. We almost missed our flight! The room service is also poor and inconsistent. We won't be staying there on this visit although I still have mixed feelings about it. The concierge and many other staff members were very kind, but we can't risk missing our flight again.

“We loved the Guatemala City Radisson”

My husband and I were very pleased when we stayed at the Radisson in April. We were visiting our son who we are in the process of adopting. We were touched by the kindness that the staff showed our family. Everyone we came into contact with was helpful and friendly. They helped prop up our little fellow with extra table linens in the restaurant because he was too tiny for the high chair! The waiters and hostess were very good to him. We very much enjoyed their company. (Breakfast was delicious! especially the plantains and mashed black beans---also the tortilla soup was very good) When we had to say goodbye to our son, we were very sad. Shortly after we returned to our room there was a knock at the door. The manager (who had been very helpful and friendly) comforted each of us with a hug and very kind words. We will stay at the Radisson again on our return trip when we finalize the adoption of our child. The Radisson is also clean and efficient and very forgiving limited spanish. We highly recommend it.

Had a great stay here at the Radisson. We first stayed at the Westin had a great stay there also but, went to the Radisson where it was a little more affordable. The beds were great, the staff very helpful. Breakfast was great.....just the right amount. Not to much that you couldn't move. Loved the location. Felt very SAFE. Will be going there again to stay.

“Radisson staff steals from guests”

Radisson Hotel Guatemala City

10 Jun 2007

If you’re planning to stay at Radisson Hotel Guatemala, please be very careful with your property, even if it’s your toothpaste! My husband and I had a bad experience after staying there for almost 4 weeks. My husband was to stay a further 2 weeks which was the initial plan but after they stole from us he changed hotels.

I had an early flight and had to leave the hotel about 5am via the hotel’s shuttle bus to the airport. My husband and I requested the porter to take my luggage down to the lobby. The porter went down before us and my husband and I left the room together. We got to the lobby before the porter, not realizing. But then when we saw him coming from behind the lobby in the dark we thought it strange because the main elevator is to the front of the lobby. Anyway, we didn’t really think that he was searching through my luggage, so we never paid him much attention. At the airport, on ordering breakfast, I realized that some US dollars were stolen from my purse because the night before I checked the amount I had in my purse. I called my husband right away and told him.

When I got to my destination and called him again, he asked if I had his W900 phone, realizing that they stole more than just my money he started relating to me the lies they told him. They told him that I had requested repairs for a leaking pipe, using that as reason for being in our room. What liars they are! For the couple of weeks we were there, we never had any problems, we hardly used the kitchen sink pipe. Then their explanation for the missing phone was that I took it with me. They realized they were in a corner. Apparently they never realized that my husband was coming back. Maybe they thought we were leaving together and didn’t actually to check if his suitcases were still in the room. I distinctly remembered that I put my husbands phone to charge and left it on the desk. The desk is near to the door and my husbands suitcases were around the corner not visible as you open the door. So apparently they normally search the guests’ rooms right after they leave to see if they can capture anything. So right as they opened the door they grabbed the phone. My husband came back and apparently shocked them. They even stole a new toothpaste I left for my husband to use. I was so upset when I heard. I remember the porter and could identify him, unfortunately my husband wasn’t focusing on him, just a pity it was the day I was leaving. And he, based on his hunches, felt that one of the front desk clerks, whom we both were skeptic of, had something to do with it as well.

Radisson further disappointed me by not taking drastic measures to punish the culprits.
