If you’re planning to stay at Radisson Hotel Guatemala, please be very careful with your property, even if it’s your toothpaste! My husband and I had a bad experience after staying there for almost 4 weeks. My husband was to stay a further 2 weeks which was the initial plan but after they stole from us he changed hotels.
I had an early flight and had to leave the hotel about 5am via the hotel’s shuttle bus to the airport. My husband and I requested the porter to take my luggage down to the lobby. The porter went down before us and my husband and I left the room together. We got to the lobby before the porter, not realizing. But then when we saw him coming from behind the lobby in the dark we thought it strange because the main elevator is to the front of the lobby. Anyway, we didn’t really think that he was searching through my luggage, so we never paid him much attention. At the airport, on ordering breakfast, I realized that some US dollars were stolen from my purse because the night before I checked the amount I had in my purse. I called my husband right away and told him.
When I got to my destination and called him again, he asked if I had his W900 phone, realizing that they stole more than just my money he started relating to me the lies they told him. They told him that I had requested repairs for a leaking pipe, using that as reason for being in our room. What liars they are! For the couple of weeks we were there, we never had any problems, we hardly used the kitchen sink pipe. Then their explanation for the missing phone was that I took it with me. They realized they were in a corner. Apparently they never realized that my husband was coming back. Maybe they thought we were leaving together and didn’t actually to check if his suitcases were still in the room. I distinctly remembered that I put my husbands phone to charge and left it on the desk. The desk is near to the door and my husbands suitcases were around the corner not visible as you open the door. So apparently they normally search the guests’ rooms right after they leave to see if they can capture anything. So right as they opened the door they grabbed the phone. My husband came back and apparently shocked them. They even stole a new toothpaste I left for my husband to use. I was so upset when I heard. I remember the porter and could identify him, unfortunately my husband wasn’t focusing on him, just a pity it was the day I was leaving. And he, based on his hunches, felt that one of the front desk clerks, whom we both were skeptic of, had something to do with it as well.
Radisson further disappointed me by not taking drastic measures to punish the culprits.
