This was my 3rd stay at the Grand Tikal. I was there picking up my daughter. As I stood in line to check in I was tapped on the shoulder, I turned around to find one of the bell hops standing there and he actually had remembered ME! He asked how my husband and son were by name(we lived in the hotel for 2 weeks back in June). I was floored! Now I didn't feel "alone". This time I had just asked for a regular room(2 beds) instead of the suite which they also offer a adoption rate for($100 US dollars) which included breakfast every morning. And WOW the breakfast there was GREAT! Again we ate at the Thai resturant a few times(this trip lasted 12 days). The hotel was always clean and the staff friendly. My only complaints.......there was a crazy woman(american) screaming and causing a scene for a few hours one day. She attacked a few hotel guests including myself(she grabbed my cross necklace and would not let go) the staff did nothing to stop her or to compensate me. Then on the eve of our Embassy appt. the room across the hall was rented out to some guys who threw a party. Wild screaming, music and banging into the walls...all with their own personal guards at the door. I couldn't walk out into the hallway because the guard was standing up against my door. I called down to the lobby 4 times and each time told they would handle it. They never did~I got into a yelling match with the idiots who were having the party. Didn't get much sleep that night.
Other than that....the hotel is great. We made some great friendships there and continue to keep in touch with a few of the staff.

we got a beautiful room and great breakfast included. The hotel has nice ammenities, but definitely is not in a good place in guatemala city... if it was in zona 10 would be the perfect hotel. I recommend it if you don't want to go out of the hotel.

I stayed at the hotel in June. I went with an international organization who arranged for me to stay there. There is no access to internet in the rooms and the worst thing was that they charged my credit card for a bill that the company paid for. It has been 4 months already and they dont take care of it. Their service was terrible! So make sure that they give you the credit card information back. Not very honest! BE CAREFUL!

The hotel was very big and across the street from a huge mall, which was convenient since I don't really like walking around Guatemala City (kind of shady). Being able to exchange money 24/7 was VERY convenient. Room service was very prompt. Otherwise, it was pretty much a normal hotel stay.
