I have stayed at the Hilton Alger two times on business trips. The first stay was fantastic - nice room, good service, a wonderful meal in the French restaurant. The second stay was not as good - when I got the room, it smelled badly and the floor in the entire room was wet. However, my first stay was so pleasent, so I would like to think that is the normal standard.
The refreshements in the minibar + internet are included in the price - I liked that.

First and foremost ..

the food is atrocious that you get from room service and the prices sickening

The water is not refilled enough and they charge you a ridculous amount for it

The restaurant ( formal) is fantastic.... wonderful wonderful

and you can cash advance at the hotel and in a country with almost NO ATMS that is wonderful

The dinners I had downstairs were the only good thing about the hotel and even though my breakfast came with the room... I had to go without for 3 days because the front desk clerk refused to issue it and then took 3 days to tell me when they confirmed I had it... All in all I would not stay there again and if I have to stay in Algiers again.. I will look...elsewhere.. They take credit cards and alot of the hotels do not but gees louise... what a rip off

I've stayed in the Hilton in Algiers now three times. It's a comfortable place to stay as are all the Hiltons. Very very pricey even more so than most Hiltons. Great security from car checks as you approach the hotel to having all your bags xrayed as you go into the lobby. Good quality restaurants, very nice pool, located near the beach but no easy way to get to the beach. Just be prepared to pay a lot for the experience.

Although located a little bit outside the city center, the Hilton is quite nice.

It comes with 4 restaurants (if you include the grill by the pool), a gym, a great pool and DSL in every room. Very functional.

I used to stay at the El Djazair which as more flair and is located downtown, but the Hilton is more business oriented which suits my purposes well.
