I went on a 2 day trip to the Atlas Mtns last month. As I was on my own, I stayed in a guesthouse at Imlil and did two great day excursionsaccompanied by local guides - firstly up to one of the mountain passes, scrambling up hillside paths and passing Berber villages on the way. It was tough going at times but well worth the huffing and puffing. The next day was easier - a pleasant hike along one side of the valley, across the river and back along the river itself with rock-hopping most of the way and views to die for. My guides spoke good English, were very professional but friendly and made it all fun. I can recommend this kind of trip to anyone who wants to explore the mountains and at the same time experience part of Moroccan culture. Nola McCann.
