A real holiday. This Riad is the ideal place for whom is looking for exotic environments, without giving up comfort, total hygien and
cleaniless, together with an excellent service at international
standard. It is located in the heart of Medina, a few minutes walk
from souks and from Djiamaa El Fnaa square.

You find there a large patio with a small pool where to refresh
yourself. The four rooms are all differently furnished, with very
confortable bathrooms. Moreover, you have at your disposal a beautiful
terrace with another pool, a pergola and chaise-longues for whome
likes to get tarned. We were pleasantly surprised by the elegant
furnishing, with old and local furnitures, large african hangings and
precious italian tissues.

We arrived there in very hot summer, but we found a cool, quiet and
absolute silent environment.Immagine that we were awaken in the
morning by the singing of birds, freely skiping about in the patio,
when not in the salon!

The staff is very tactful, always paying attention to your wishes and
needs. The feeling was to be at home.At last but not least, the
cuisine: Fatima prepared a delicious breakfast and an excellent
dinner, that we were enjoing

Because I am a little bit lazy and not so skill to express my feeling by writing, I will just say that all the very positive comments that can be read so far on this riad are absolutely justified.
I spend two weeks in this place, and from the first to the last day, it was always the same top level of quality, reffinement, kindness and efficiency.
Françoise and her team give to this place a soul which make the riad much more than a nice place to spend few days.

Riad Sable Chaud was a very special place to stay. My husband and I stayed there for 4 nights. It was tricky to find the place, since we had never been to Marradech, but I did find it an adventure. Once there, we were greated with delicious mint tea, cookies, beer(my husband needed one after the long travel), and some nice friendly people who were working at the Riad, Abul and Adell, along with the cook.

The rooms were so pleasant and the place was decorated so nicely, that it was home away from home. The place has great character, filled with very nice people, and a good cook. There are only 3 rooms to rent, so ithere is not much traffic. It is quiet and tranquil. If you want something out of the ordinary, this is the place.

While we stayed, the people who stayed there at the same time were all very nice. One couple from France, another from Spain and another from Spain. I felt safe, and looked after.

The location is good. We enjoyed our walks to the square, and the new city. I would go back there again, and hope to get back to Morroco maybe for my 50th birthday!

In all honesty, there are two dogs at the riad. I did not know this when we booked, but they were quite charming, did not bother us in any way, and were quite loving like the place and people. The rooms just had doors without locks, which I liked, again feeling like home. I loved how the rooms had shutters on the windows, and you could have complete privacy with them closed, and then when you opened them, the light was spectacular shining in from the courtyard.

If you are looking for something special, with character, and feels like home, this is the place.

Lastly, the breakfast on the terrace was a highlight!

  • Liked — the room where we stayed
  • Disliked — thought we might stay and extra night, but wanted a discount, and wasn't able to be accomodated

Ideal Place to Stay in Marrakech

We were first time visitors to Morocco and did not know what to expect. It turned out that Riad Sable Chaud was ideal for our visit.

Host and Staff: Francois made us feel exceptionally welcome and gave us great advice on how to get the most out of our trip. We always enjoyed our conversation with her, and her advice on how to get the most out of outings were priceless. She set us up with a driver to Essaouira, Hassan, who was great and made that trip a highlight for us. She has an incredible, friendly staff who did a great job of taking care of the us and the riad. Abdel got us excellent reservations at several restaurants (a seat by the pool at Dar Moha, a booth at Maison d'Arabe) on short notice. Everyone, from the driver who picked us up from the airport to the person who cleaned our room, was professional, friendly, smiling, and trustworthy.

Location: The riad is located a 10-15 minute walk northwest of the Jamaa El F'na in a residential/non-touristy quiet neighborhood. We were at first apprehensive about the location, but again it turned out to be ideal. It was great to walk through a neighborhood where "real" Moroccans live and shop. To just see the produce, butcher shops, clothing stores, and moped mechanics along our walk was great fun. What also made this location excellent was that there was no one who would approach us every five steps to ask us whether we needed a guide (which happened all the time near Jamaa El F'na). It certainly made it feel more "homey" and an escape from the hustle and bustle.

The Riad itself: It was impeccably clean and beautiful. We stayed in the Bedouin suite for 4 nights, which was quite spacious. Whoever cleaned our room did a fantastic job, hanging our clothes and even folding our pajamas in a different, creative manner every night. Although there is a mosque nearby we were never awoken by the prayer call in the early morning (though it is audible during the day which adds a nice touch of exoticness). The other guests staying at the hotel (although widely disparate in age and home country) were extremely friendly and we enjoyed talking to them, dining with them, sharing travel stories, and comparing daily sightseeing experiences. The riad was quiet and we never were disturbed by noises coming from our neighbors rooms.

Food: This was again another highlight. The breakfasts were awesome and unforgettable. We still talk about them even one month after our trip. We had dinner our first night and enjoyed it so much we had another dinner at the riad. If it was up to my wife, we would have eaten there every night. We found out later that Francois's chef used to work at one of the top restaurants in the city. The food was exquisite and had a touch of home-cooking, and it was great to sample the wines produced in Morocco.

All in all, we fell in love with Marrakech and hope to visit Morocco again soon. Riad Sable Chaud was the perfect place for us and we hope to stay there again.
