We visited Trader Vic's on 29th December as we were staying in the Anantara Riverside Hotel. We had previously visited this restaurant two years ago and have also visited Trader Vic's in Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Dubai. We were very disappointed to note that this restaurant was nearly empty (about 8.30 p.m.) and with very little atmosphere. The menu was extremely disappointing with a very small selection of foods - a far cry from the extensive menus of previous visits. That said the food (duck breast and pork chop) was very nice albeit overpriced - the bill came to €55 for two relatively small main courses, one Mai Tai, one small glass of wine and one bottle of water. We also noted that the little touches like the Tiki salt and pepper shakers were non-existent in this particular branch. The frozen chocolates were a nice treat however. The staff were very pleasant and helpful but despite this I would not return to this branch of Trader Vics. Even the bar was empty and the band were playing to an empty room by the time we left. It no longer has the same ambience and buzz of the Trader Vic's of old.
