I recently stayed at the Radisson Suites Bangkok during a business trip to Bangkok for a week. I had booked online through Agoda and the property was listed as a Five Star. When I got to the hotel, check in went smooth but when I got to my room, it was definitely not a five star hotel. Being a regular traveler, one component of a five star is a four point bathroom. My room had no bath tub. When I went to reception to inquire, I was told, I would have to book a higher room category. However, this was not available due to occupancy rates. From here, things went down hill. I asked to speak to the General Manager, but got no response. In the evening after my first batch of meetings, I went to use the bathrobe and slippers provided. The bathrobe was dirty and the slippers, being re-used had darkened, which looked unhygienic on the white material.
That evening I noted that in the guest directory, they offered complimentary shoe shine. But when I telephoned, housekeeping brought me a shoe mitt to do myself. I telephoned a second time to reception to be told that they do not provide this service.
The hotel is promoted as being a "short walk" to Sukhumvit. However, it is more than a short walk and they do offer a Tuk Tuk. But even this is irregular and it is only possible to get from the hotel and not back as there is no scheduled service. Once when waiting with other guests, the Tuk Tuk driver did not even come all the way back to the entrance and picked up other guests who were walking across the drive and left those of us waiting, infuriated. After a discussion with the reception, they tried to appease by providing their van.
Having stayed the last three months in three different Radisson hotels (two in Eastern Europe), this was a disaster. I wrote to the Corporate Office of Carlson Hospitality and am yet to hear from them.
A complete disappointment, and completely in contradiction to the company's promotion of "100% satisfaction".
