This holiday was booked last minute and stayed here on the recomendation of the travel agent. I found the staff to be helpful and very nice to deal with they went out of the way to help you when you asked them for directions.
Had breakfast each day and found it to be satisfactoy. I did not use the resturant in the evening as there are loads of places nearby. Located 5 mins from the skytrain, 10 mins from the river and approx 15 mins walking to the Patpong area.

My husband and I stayed in the Holiday Inn Silom for three nights. On arrival we were shown straight to our room on the 10th floor. The room was spacious and immaculate. The bathroom was a little on the small side but perfectly adequate for a three night stay. The view wasn't great mainly high rise buildings and busy roads but what we expected when staying in the heart of Bangkok! We found the staff to be polite and friendly, they really could not do enough to help you. We found the pillows a little uncomfortable, but were provided with alternatives on request. We were entitled to a complimentry drink on arrival, and complimentry bottled water was provided daily from the mini bar. The breakfast buffett was superb serving a large variety of food. We also ate in the hotel restaurant which we found to be of a good standard, and reasonably priced. The hotel is quite central and only a short walk from the sky train which is easy to use. The hotel will organise a taxi for you and insist the taxi driver use their metre so you are not over charged. The hotel pool was located on the sixth floor but only got the sun until about 3pm so it's good to do your sunbathing first thing. Towels were provided. The pool is a good size, very clean and sunbeds are always available. The only negative was the hotel air conditioning was alittle too efficient! I was glad I packed a cardigan as I needed it when in the building!
All this while I am sting with Holiday Inn Bangkok that is at Chitlom. Fantastic service and superb location. Many time been there and all the time very satisfied. Therefore, I was thinking to have a change seen I never stay in Holiday Inn Silom before. I book a room through the web side with a conformation number as well. While I spend 2.5 hour drive all the way from Cha-Am to Bangkok and drop at Holiday Inn Silom. The first look it was as good as Bangkok and the bell great when you arrive. While check-in, there are this lady which attand to me and she was asking some document from me which I does not have. Fine, then another young guy came by and as say the same thing. Later another guy came as if I am a criminal. Keep asking me to wait and he is keep looking at his computer. The thing went about 30 mins. The guy by the name of Khun In Training (or something like that). The document which he require is to make sure I am the right person. I told him that I forget to bring but when I check out the next day, there are someone to pick me up and I will pass the document to him them. NO! he insist to have it now and if not I will be charge as walk-in rate which is double the price from the internet! Then 3 of them talking in Thai assuming I don't understand which I did as I have stay in Thailand for more that 3 years now.The way they say is was I am fake don't trust him, cannot and is the hotel policy.
What is the big deal if I could pass him the document when I check out and if I could not product the document then you could charge me by then. I was seen like walk me out the Hotel!!!!! Finally I have to take a cab and check-in a Holiday Inn Bangkok.
Maybe Holiday Inn Silom is good for walk-in out guest!
A very bad experience. I will never come back to the hotel and nor recommend this hotel to who ever I know.
