We stayed in a Deluxe room for 4 nights at the beginning of our Thailand holiday. Arrived at 4am after our flight was delayed from Sydney and the staff were all lovely. We were intially placed in Twin room after requesting a King Bed however the staff were more than happy to move us the following day after a room was available.

Although the hotel is about 15 minutes from the city (and 40 mins from the airport) they had a few courtesy shuttle buses leaving to Chidlom, Silom and Patpong throughout the day/night.

The restuarants in the hotel were fabulous! We had a wonderful all you can eat seafood dinner buffet for ~800Bht per person with an exquisite desert buffet to top it off. The breakfast buffet also had a great variety of foods!

Pool and gym facilities were great. Would definately stay here again!

Stayed here for one day. Very nice big lobby and attentive staff.
The room was very comfortable with a big bathroom. The bed with clean linen and firm mattress gave you a good sleep. Had lunch buffet at their Chatuchuk restuarant were the food was excellent. This hotel does not have much around it except a Central shopping mall which is a very busy place and you can spend a whole day here shopping. The nearest skytrain station is about Bhat 40 by taxi ( 5 minutes) and from there you can easily go into center of city. This hotel is also close to the famous Chatuchuk week end market - a must visit. Just be careful about what you get charged on your bill on check out. I was charged for a meal which should not have been charged and when I pointed it out to the cashier, she just shruged and removed that charge, giving me a feeling that they do that all the time. Otherwise this is a very nice place to stay.

We stayed at the Sofitel Bangkok Central Plaza for 3 nights last month -- at the beginning of our Thailand Holiday. We booked a Deluxe Room with Dynasty (Exec) privileges. WELL worth the extra money. With this room type, you get access to a Lounge on the 22nd floor. They offer various freebies throughout the day. Breakfast, brunch, lunchtime snacks, afternoon tea, evening cocktails (2 hours -- any cocktail from the bar menu. We had Margaritas, Jack Daniels, Vodka, etc). There's always something in the lounge. The sandwiches were delicious. Excellent choice of cakes and canapes. The location of the hotel isn't great -- but a taxi from the hotel to central Bangkok was under 100 baht. (Mainly around 70-80), The rooms were spacious -- and so were the bathrooms. Quite dated. I don't think they'd been decorated for a while. The staff were all VERY friendly. I guess it's the Thai way -- but we always felt very special. If you want a good, friendly 5 Star hotel -- stay here!!

My fiancee and I stayed at the Sofitel Centrar Grand for four nights. The hotel was booked as part of a holiday package. The hotel is a fair distance out of the center of Bangkok but is located close to a train station, where it takes about 20mins to get into the centre of Bangkok.
There is a lovely big park over the road from the hotel. The hotel is linked to a large shopping center via an undercover carpark (not dodgy at all). The shopping center has a supermarket on the ground floor and there is a Tesco's supermarket within walking distance of the hotel.
We found the hotel staff lovely. They were very friendly and helpfull. The hotel was very clean with rooms being cleaned on a daily basis (as you would expect in a good hotel).
The hotel has two resturants: an international one (with buffet) and a Thai resturant. The Thai resturant is set within the hotel gardens. Really nice food at not too expensive prices. The buffet breakfast is great. A wide range of different foods
The pool is a good decent size with plenty of sun lounges surrounding the pool. A nice place to relax after a day of sight seeing.
I would stay at this hotel again.
