This was our first trip to bangkok and as we had been told how manic it can be chose this hotel after reading the reviews and looking at the location.From the moment we arrived in the huge reception area we were treated like V.I.Ps,nothing was too much trouble,the concierge was especially helpful drawing little maps and advising us how much to pay for cabs even writing out the address in Thai for the driver! The location was perfect for us,in a quiet area on the river with a fab view from our 20th floor room which was really well designed.the breakfast buffet was excellent,a huge choice to suit all nationalities with no limit as to amount ,it really set you up for the day.There was a free shuttle service to the skytrain next to the ferry with the river taxis and also to the sister hotel in the center of town,ideal for sightseeing. We would definatly return and recommend it to anyone,it is a gentle introduction to the madness that is Bangkok.

Good Points:
- Shuttle service into central Bangkok - location really isn't problem & as long as you take a business card out with you to showthe taxi driver when returning, you'll have no problem.
- Rooms have a nice shower & are large and nicely decorated, modern classic.
- Swimming pool area is fairly large and has sunbeds at either end, so you can be in the shade or sun.
- Room service food was good- good flavours and choice

Bad Points:
- Breakfast was rather disappointing. Both mornings the food was cold. They serve breakfast until 10am - our first morning we arrived at 9.40 and almost everything had run out. The staff began clearing away. In a hotel of this standard, staff usually replace the buffet breakfast until 10am. Service was also poor - we had finished breakfast before we were offered tea or coffee. Also, one of the staff broke a glass and some of the glass ended up in the fruit salad which was not taken away from the buffet table.
- As previous guests have mentioned, the foyer is very grand, but grand in an 80's style & lacking atmosphere, although this didn't bother us as we were in the city most of the time.

Summary:
Overall, a nice hotel & very good value for money. I would stay here again, but would probably opt out of breakfast option and eat something in Bangkok instead.

This is a really nice hotel and definitely recommend this to other travellers. We stayed here for 3 nights and were very impressed. The rooms are huge, as is the bed and you can swing more than a few cats in the bathroom! Very powerful showers too.

Its very clean with a luxurious feel and you are made to feel welcome by the staff. The lobby area is really amazing and the staff are very polite and professional. They all wear traditional dress which really gets you into the spirit of Thailand.

The selection of Breakfast is just insane!!! They prepare enough to feed 5000! This has top marks from me. Very nice. We didnt eat dinner here though so cant comment but im sure it would have been fantastic.

As it's been mentioned in other reviews, it's no problem that it's located just outside the centre as you just jump on the free hotel shuttle bus which takes you to the sister hotel 'The Montien' (not riverside) which is right next to patpong market. Here you can go for dinner (we recommend a resaurant called the Mango Tree. When you get dropped off, ask the doorman of the hotel and he will give you directions - Very tasty!) and shop till you drop. Once you're done you just head back to the Montien to catch the shuttle bus back to the Montien Riverside.

Taxis back are cheap and inexpensive but as anyone whos travelled to Bangkok before, always make sure the driver turns on his meter or at least agree the price beforehand. We saved the Tuk Tuk experience for Chiang Mai as they are complete lunatics in Bangkok. A little bit of useful advice - TAKE THE LITTLE HOTEL MAP WITH YOU AS THIS HAS THE ADDRESS WRITTEN IN THAI AND YOU CAN SHOW THE DRIVER WHERE IT IS. Their english isn't brilliant and you might end up at the Montien instead!!

This was a fantastic hotel which is really not something to be missed.

My partner and I stayed in this hotel when the hotel we had wanted was not available. Wasn't sure what to expect but went with an open mind. From the moment we drove up to the hotel we were just astounded at how beautiful it was, from the grand lobby to the immaculately presented staff. I can honestly say that this hotel was the best experience of a hotel I have ever had. Nothing was ever too much trouble and everything was done with a genuine smile. The room was beautiful(we were upgraded to the deluxe suite) and spotless at all times. Beds were made in the morning and turned down in the evening. The bathroom huge and again spotless with fresh towels twice a day.
Yes, its a little bit out of the centre but the free bus from the hotel is available and a taxi is very cheap. Would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat!
