“Amazing hotel with suberb Service”

Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok

Suberb hotel with excellent service all along. Very well situated close to all major shopping malls .You also save yourself the trouble of engaging taxis (horrendous traffic) to visit these malls since all of them are connected by skywalks. We spent 3 nights at the hotel and all we can say is Wow. The hotel itself cannot be faulted in terms of amenities, facilities and service. We were upgraded to their delux room without much fuss and must say the view from the room was simply fantastic. We would recommend everyone to opt for their delux room as the view of the golf course is simply amazing.

“Very good business hotel”

Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok

I stayed at the Hyatt for business for 8 nights and was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were large and comfortable with all reasonable amenities, including a speaker in the bathroom for the TV sound. The TV was an old CRT but there were enough ports in the back to connect a computer (for DVDs) and my iPod.
For once there were enough pillows, coat hangers etc.
Service was good and cleaning excellent.
However as always in Hyatts the wifi was expensive - but a per minute charge per 24 hours, with a maximum of around 700 THB, so if you just wanted 5 minutes you were not charged a fortune. Also breakfast, which was very good, stopped at 10h30, even at weekends, and the room service breakfast cost a fortune.
Location was good, with the Skytrain accessible through the shopping centre (Chit Lom) and a short walk from the lobby took you to the other line towards Silom.

“Great service and excellent spa”

Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok

22 Jul 2007

I have always travelled to Bangkok for business but I find my recent stay at the Hyatt the most memorable one. The room may be a bit tired-looking compared to other newer hotels but it's a decent size room and the service is quick and efficient particularly the room service and handling my simple requests like asking for an iron and ironing board, airline confirmation and whether they had a dated issue of IHT newspaper I was desperately looking for. Little things that made a difference to frequent business travellers.

But I must say I was most surprised when I couldn't sleep one night and decided to call them at 4am to make a spa booking at 9am on the same day! And the spa is definitely worth pampering yourself for. But I do find it a bit strange having a 24-hour gym and I was tempted to see if there are hotel guests there at 3am.

The live band at Spasso was good and though it got a bit crowded, I was surprised that the staff were quick with my order. I had a buffet lunch at the coffeehouse and the spread was huge! I wonder if people actually get their monies worth from that 2-hour meal.

Location is great - easy access to the train station and malls. I am especially thankful for the walkway to some of the nearby malls as I dread crossing the road and choking on dust.

“Loved the cottage”

My fiancee and I recently stayed at Spa Cottage at the Hyatt Erawan after our beautiful stay at Pool Villa in Evason Samui. At first we didn't know what to expect but hearing from our friends who's been there..we decided to give a try...
The spa cottages are very well designed and appointed and are a great concept. The convenient location near the pool, gym and spa is a huge plus. The Spa floor staff  was very friendly, professional and attentive. And they were especially helpful when we had to extend one day because I was ill. We stay at the Amans quite a bit and we found the experience at this spa cottage to be at that level. We made the right decision...Two thumbs up for the spa floor and for sure will extend rave reviews to our friends

“Not what I expected!”

Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok

16 Jun 2007

I am a Platinum member of Hyatt, so I try to stay at Hyatts whenever I travel. I had read that this particular Hyatt was a 4 1/2 - 5 star property. I did get a nice room, but I had to endure the noise of cranes and other heavy construction equipment running all day. The front desk staff was very stuffy and aloof. For instance, one day I was soaked from a heavy downpour. When I got to the hotel, I asked to leave a message for the G.M. since I had just met a good friend of his. I wanted to compliment the G.M. on having such a nice property and tell him about meeting his friend. I was wet but still smartly dressed. The snobby French Assistant Rooms Director told me that I could meet the G.M. only if I agreed to go and dry off, change my clothes and comb my hair. I did as he asked but was miffed that he would make such a request. I had just showered and shaved a few hours before. For business travelers, this is a great hotel. For families and vacationers, it is not. In its defense, it is in a great location and it's a beautiful facility. And I did find the staff in the upstairs Club Room to be exceptional. I did meet the G.M. and he was quite friendly. The spa and gym is very modern and nice. I enjoyed my spa treatment immensely. And the hotel is in a great location for shopping, business and sky train. It is simply the stuffiness of the front desk staff that takes away from its charm. I also stayed at the Sheraton Grande down the street, which is equally ranked, and the service and friendliness was 100% better. Two other things are worth mentioning. The bar downstairs, Spasso, is filled with ladies of the night, who have taken over the establishment with the apparent blessing of the management. Spasso's is known all over Bangkok as a place to buy some company. And the prices for beverages in the hotel are outrageous. My friends and I each had a fruit juice in the lobby, and the bill came to 980 baht with tax and service charge! That's $35.00 USD for 4 fruit juices! C'mon people, this is Bangkok, not Tokyo!!
