Based on tripadvisor reviews we pre-paid for 4 nights in this hotel as it had 2 non negotiables - swimming pool to relax around on the last 4 days of our trip and cope with the 35 degree heat, and in room free internet so we could upload the videos of our 6 month trip before we returned home. Neither of these expectations were met.
Swimming Pool - we were devasted when we arrived to find the swimming pool was closed for maintenance for our entire stay. I believe we should have been advised prior to booking e.g. on their website or on the instant booking details- it was closed for 2 months! They do have 3 pools, the 2 open were children/toddlers pools. I felt their approach to this showed a lack of consideration to their customers selection criteria. We would never ever have considered this hotel if we knew the swimming pool was empty and would have left if we had not pre-paid.
Internet - their in-room ADSL internet had limited website access I could bring up some websites but not the ones we needed, email, airline and travel blog. We had to go to Starbucks where it worked fine as it has with ADSL access at every hotel and internet cafe in the last 6 months. So no videos uploaded.
Room - we pre-paid for a room in the Maple Tower but were put in the Mayflower Tower across the road despite our pre-paid receipt stating Maple Tower. The next morning I queried this, they offered to move us but they were fully booked, we would have to wait until the following day. They showed us the room they would reserve for us, WOW we were rapted, it had a large wide screen TV, DVD, great decor. All was forgiven and we could not wait to move. Although the room at the Mayflower Tower was huge and adequate, the services were all housed in the Maple Tower, and it was not what we had booked. To get to the swimming pool from the Mayflower Tower involved going outside along an overbridge across the street and through the carpark. The next day they moved us, but not to the refurbished room they had shown us, but one that had not been refurbished, therefore gone were the widescreen TV, DVD and nice decor.
On a positive side full marks to the cook at the restaurant on the ground floor of the Maple Tower, Baan President.
So overall, no thanks, not again, other Bangkok Hotels do it better.

Dear Moirs,
We truly apologise for the pool being closed during your stay. The tiles were chipped and we simply had to close it to avoid our guest from getting hurt. We regret that this has made your stay less enjoyable.
With regards to the websites that you were unable to access, please could you tell us which sites are these. In that way, we can focus on the problem and rectify it.
We also regret that we were unable to give you the room you had booked. However, we will keep an offer of a free upgrade to our renovated suite for your next visit. We sincerely wish we could have done a better job at giving you a wonderful stay with us and we hope you would give us a second chance to make it up to you.
Warm regards
Danny Lingham
