“Great mid-range accommodation”

Admiral Suites Bangkok

Save Review
4 of 5 stars

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in mid-March this year (bed and breakfast).

As far as the accommodation is concerned, I was very impressed. The rooms are really spacious, with a kitchen, huge bed, lovely bathroom and air conditioning. The air-con was quite a noisy model, and not as effective as it sounded. I also had a balcony but did not use this as the view was not great - see photo. The curtains were blackout ones and worked really well.

The location of the hostel is excellent - just off Sukhumvit Road and great for exploring central Bangkok. The nearest BTS station is about 10 mins walk away if you walk fast. The road outside is relatively busy, and there were lots of dogs barking throughout the night.

The staff were extremely courteous and spoke good English. My room was cleaned on a regular basis, and the doorman always rushed to open the door, and apologised if he did not get there in time!

The breakfast was in the cafe next-door and was quite minimalist although tasty. You also get free internet as a customer. Draught beer is cheap here at 1GBP. I did not eat at the Japanese restaurant.

Everything included, I paid 88GBP for my stay, and the rate I got at the time of booking was acknowledged. The only thing that makes me feel this was a little expensive was the airport transfer - I paid 20GBP for this, and whilst the car (not a UK style limo) was very comfortably air-conditioned (and it was nice to get picked up at the airport), the taxi back to the airport the week after cost me only £8. I guess 44GBP per night (inc transfer) is still less than UK hotel prices!

The rooftop outdoor swimming pool was excellent and got lots of sun. Every time I used it, nobody else was in, so it was like a private pool. A lot of reviews say that the pool doesn't get used much, but I don't understand why. The gym was adequate.

All in all, if you want something better than a hostel, but not the extortionate prices of some nearby luxury hotels then this place is definitely recommended. The only advice I would provide to the hotel is to consider reducing the 1200THB cost of airport transfer to something more reasonable.

“Not worth the money”

Admiral Suites Bangkok

29 Mar 2008

I booked a standard room on latestays.com about a week before my trip. A few days later they lowered the rate from Baht 2,300 per night to Baht 1,990 per night. When I checked in they refused to honor the lower price which I thought was pretty cheap of them.

The room was spacious and clean. It was on the main road and was fairly noisy with the tuk tuks and sirens going by on occasion. The air conditioner cut off on a regular basis, the desk people said that was a regular occurrence as they ice up. I haven't ever had that problem in a hotel in Bangkok before.

When we checked out they added Baht 100 to the bill for a broken toilet spray. I though that was a pretty cheap thing to do also.

The fitness room was ok but the three air conditioners did little to cool it off. The pool was small but sparkling clean and nice. The sauna worked fine.

The breakfast was stingy to say the least. Three choices and they seemed to begrudge even providing a glass of water. The Asian breakfast was a bowl of rice soup with absolutely nothing else. Very poor compared to the breakfast usually provided in a quality hotel.

I wouldn't stay there again although the location is fine.

“Quite nice!”

Admiral Suites Bangkok

16 Mar 2008

I recently stayed at the Admiral Suites in Feb '08. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean. One thing I especially liked was that the room was exceptionally quiet. Did not hear one of my neighbors and I was next to the elevator. The sky train is a moderate walk (~10 min) and there is a very nice Thai massage place just up Soi 22. One minor negative was that there was some mold on the shower curtain. But otherwise the bathroom was fine. I would recommend the Admiral Suites to anyone needing a nice and very affordable hotel in Bangkok.

“A most comfortable experience”

We were picked up from the airport as arranged in a very comfortable limousine, taken to the hotel, where the staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The room was very comfortable, although the furnishings were a little tired. We had vouchers to take breakfast in the coffee shop next door, and there we could use the internet free of charge. It was conveniently situated between 2 Skytrain stations just off the Sumkivet Road, however, as these were over half Km away, if you were not able bodied, this might be a problem. Plenty of taxis around though. There was a good variety of restaurants nearby. All the main shopping areas are accessible from the Skytrain and many of the attractions too. Bedding and towels were changed everyday, the room was quiet, and although we didn't use the swimming pool or the Gym, they were available. We had a good time and would definitely use the Admiral Suites again. Excellent value for money.

I have stayed at the admiral suites about 10 times over the last 4 years and they are my only choice when staying in BKK. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Howie (manger) is excellent at answering emails and arranging reservations etc. Rooms are great and you have choice of 4 types with reasonable prices. Maid service really good as they know not to try and clean my room till after dinner time :) In house movie service is good, but TV could do with more movie channels but thats not a major issue.

Swimming pool on the roof is great especially the water spa, and the small gym is ok to burn a few excess calories off.

Overall I cant ask for any better
