My friend and I stayed at the Majestic Grande for four nights from the 6th to 10th April 2012.
Our stay here was very good overall. The location is very good, it is on Soi 2 just off the main Sukhumvit road, a 5min walk from Phloen Chit BTS station. This meant from the airport we were able to get the SARL to Phaya Thai, then change on to the BTS. This was a lot cheaper than getting a taxi!
It's proximity to some very lively Sois off Sukhumvit and only two stops from Siam Square meant you were able to get to most places very quickly and easily but it was set far enough back to be very quiet and relaxing. It is only a 60baht taxi to get back from Silom and to get to the old city with the grand palace was a little more difficult, but the BTS can quickly get you to the main pier from which you can take a boat up to the grand palace and see more of Bangkok than if you took a taxi.
We arrived at 9am due to our flight times, I had emailed the hotel ahead to request early check in and I was extremely happy and slightly surprised when they said our room was ready for us to check in immediately.
The room was very spacious and well appointed. Lots of different cable channels on the TV, nice views of the cityscape from the large window, nice beds and a beautiful marble bathroom. The only slightly disappointing thing was the shower, it was a standard mixer shower, not a drench or power shower. This was the only thing I could have improved!
Breakfast was in the small restaurant on the 7th floor which also had the pool, gym and beauty area. We sat outside every morning overlooking the pool which was very pleasant. Food was of a good quality, and they even did porridge on request which was very good.
The hotel also gave us a free cocktail voucher which we had in the cocktail lounge in the lobby which was very nice.
My only slight annoyance as this was clearly a very good 4* hotel, was that I had a reservation at a restaurant which needed to be reconfirmed. When I approached the concierge to request them to call and reconfirm for me I was passed from one desk to another, only to be finally told I could do it myself from my room!! I was a little perturbed as I felt this was a job the concierge should carry out no questions asked, especially as I was worried they may not speak English. This also meant I had to pay the cost of the call plus a rather large surcharge.
Overall we had a very nice stay in Bangkok at this hotel, and I would definitely recommend it and return here!
