Avoid this bar a ALL costs. We visited the Sky Bar this evening where we were hoping to sit, take in the breathtaking Bangkok view and enjoy some stunning, hassle free cocktails - big mistake. There's no question that The Lebua hotel is beautifully done inside - this however is ruined by the staff who constantly throw daggers at you as they judge whether you can or can't enter. We finally arrived to the 64th floor at 6pm on the dot when it is supposed to open to be greeted by swarms of tourists also waiting. We had to wait 10 minutes for them to open (10 mins late) and whilst this isn't a big problem, you don't expect it from this type of resort.
The views are breathtaking and that is the only attraction... For some reason you have to either make your way straight to the bar or the restaurant.... The pushy, rude and obnoxious staff do not allow you to stand in the vast area for no known reason at all.
The bar area is tiny.... There is no where to sit and relax, instead your literally crammed in like sardines around the bar with what seems like an unlimited number of tourists. The drinks were extremely expensive for what they were. £8 for a can of coke for example... We expected to pay these prices but we also expected them to be of a decent standard and to be able to sit and enjoy the atmosphere! Unfortunately here you can't... The waiters seem to work to the rule that you have to have a drink n your hand, but unfortunately the drinks are so uninspiring and bland it's a complete waste of money.
If you want to experience a true 'sky bar' with breathtaking views, fantastic service and a perfectly relaxed atmosphere with tables you can sit at then go to Vertigo at The Banyan Tree.... By far a million times better than this place!
