We are a couple from Italy. We stayed 3 nights in this fabolous small resort last May. We have booked at this place on the basis on the amazing reviews we found on this website, and everything we had read was true! If you want to stay far from the crowd, but still conveniently near to the city, this is the best place. The lush green and the unique hospitality of the owners (Om and his wife) won't disappoint you. Also try to the have dinner here at least once, very very good food, and it was nice to dine only the two of us with all this nature around.Go for it!

We stayed at the beautiful fern paradise for 4 nights during which we celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary. We couldnt have wished for a more amazing place to celebrate our special day. The family made us feel so special and even left a lovely bouquet of flowers in our room with their best wishes for our anniversary.

The family were all so attentive and helped us in ensuring we had a brilliant trip in chaing mai. The fern paradise tour with Dr Niwat was one of our highlights. All the family made us feel so welcome and took the time to talk to us about the thai culture, we learnt far more than we could from any guide book!

Althought fern paradise is situated outside of the main city this is not a problem at all as the taxis are cheap and very reliable. The location is ideal as you are close enough to reach the hustle of the main city without having it on your door step.

We feel so priviledged to have been able to stay with you all at fern paradise and hope to be able to return in the future.

Many thanks

Becky and Joe Smith

This was my first trip to Chiang Mai, and I was traveling alone. I arrived unexpectedly on a rainy evening, one day early. Om and his family did not miss a beat and went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable, bringing fresh fruit to my room when I said I was too tired for dinner. I quickly realized that this "nice touch" is standard procedure for this wonderfully hospitable family, and that their gestures of generosity and kindness stem from much more than a desire to run a business efficiently. These folks really do care about their guests and their needs.
Niwat's love for ferns and his willingness to share that with me, a visitor, opened a whole new appreciation for me that I never even considered prior to my visit. What a lovely gift. I can honestly say that in all my many years of travel, I have never stayed anywhere that comes close to Fern Paradise in providing genuine hospitality.

This family-run bed and breakfast is outside the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai's center. The distance was no issue at all as the proprietors arranged for a cab to deliver us into the center of town and pick us up. Our guestroom was an individual treehouse-like hut which we accessed by climbing a staircase to a large landing, with each "room" spaced a good distance from the last. The construction of our room is very solid, and given the natural rustic-feeling setting I was surprised to find that we had excellent air-conditioning, a decent-sized bathroom with amenities (soap, conditioner, shampoo), a hot water heater for the shower, and a TV with DVD player! The bed was very comfortable and I had the best night's sleep on my trip to Thailand, thus far.

One advantage to the location out of town is that the air was significantly cooler than inside the city. This is also helped by the owner's devotion to horticulture, particularly ferns, and his having planted and maintained numerous large, shady trees to keep the property cool. He was kind enough to show me his fern garden and "greenhouse" area where he propagates his many species of ferns. Each member of the family was friendly and went out of their way to make me feel at home while staying at Fern Paradise. This interpersonal warmth is the quality that really makes this hotel unique.

“Sshhh.....don't tell anyone. Lets keep this paradise secret.”

Not seeing this place in any of the guidebooks, we were a bit hesitant, but ultimately trusted the travelers on TripAdvisor and booked a stay. WOW! Now we hope it stays out of the guidebooks so that it remains a hidden find....

Fern Paradise is a 9-villa sanctuary run by Aum and his family. They treat you like family and by the time you leave, you feel like you're going away from home. Service has been the most friendly and attentive we have seen. From your breakfast to arranging for excursions, there was great comfort.

Every morning you are served breakfast at the dock (a river runs through the property). Each morning they surprise you with a new fruit from Thailand along with other tasty morsels.

The most wonderful aspect of it all was being able to stay in a Lanna rice barn that has been converted into a little villa. Its fun to walk about the property and admire the various ferns, fruit trees, and lush foliage.

Aum's dad, who loves growing and studying ferns, was kind enough to show us his collection and how he cultures fern spores. That was one of our highlights.

I can't say enough about this place. You just have to go there and see for yourself.

My only point of caution is that this place is for nature lovers. If bugs and noises in the night make you nervous, this may not be the place for you.
