We had a rocky start to our holiday missing our flight from Bangkok to Samui. Upon notifying the staff that we would not be arriving that night as planned they were very helpful & lovely. Although we still were charged for the extra night stay.
Check in did take a little long with only 2 people at the desk.
We stayed in a basic room at the rear of the hotel, D101 which was lovely! Big room, great big stone bath with visors which could be opened to look onto the pool area. Glass sliding door which opened onto small but sufficient balcony including day bed with table & chair.
There are two pools. One near our room (rear side of resort) and one which flowed the entire length of the front of the resort (which was gorgeous!) unfortunately our pool bar was not staffed at all during our stay which meant we had to do the big trek to the big pool if we wanted drinks/food poolside.
The staff were absolutely brilliant & lovely at all times.
We treated ourselves to 2 spa packages & were sooo impressed! Very affordable & amazing masseuse! (I wish I got her name!)
Resort prices are quite high as you are a bit of a captive Market but the cocktails are delicious & the food is amazing!! Spicy crab salad was to die for!!!
Free shuttle service is a bit of a let down, with hourly commutes to Chaweeng up until only 1:30 which are usually booked out, meaning you have to pay 1000bht for a private car, and about 450-800bht return in a cab (depending on the time)
We are 100% positive we had 1000bht taken from my husbands wallet in our room, but did not raise this with the staff as our sliding door was left open, so could not be sure if it were a guest/staff. However we had our laptop out & that wasnt touched? Either way, our fault.
The buffet dinners on the beach looked really popular & had great options. The Mai restaurant (/pub but there was nothing pub about it) served great dishes. The fine dining restaurant (elevated) was not worth the extra money & I'm sure you're paying for the view only)
Thai cooking class felt very staged with photos for every dish etc & I didn't learn as much as I did the last time I did it through a private company in Samui, however you leave with an amazing recipe book to take home & try so I'm really looking forward to trying that out back home!
The beach is not the best, definitely not swimmable, but fine for someone like me who prefers to be poolside.
Would definitely return again, my only real concern is the cost associated in leaving the resort.
