The hotel is a bit on the older side but is still maintained well overall with very nice facilities, generally excellent service from the staff and a superb private beach. The hotel was only a 5 minute tuk tuk ride to Patong beach, close enough but yet not close enough to walk or be in the middle of the action. Depending on what you want this could be good or not so good. It's our first trip to Phuket and while I didn't mind being a bit further away, my next trip will probably be at a hotel in the middle of town.

The baby elephant on premises was cute, the kids club was well stocked with many activities for kids. On a trip with 6 kids altogether, there was enough for them to be occupied.

One annoying thing was the hotel staff seemed pretty stingy with amenities. We had to request for hotel slippers, the tea and coffee wasn't refilled every day, I had to chase the hotel staff to fill it up, soap & shampoo seemed hard to come by. Other than that we had some rusty water in the shower but a quick chat with the front desk fixed that.

Overall though the excellent beach more than made up for the few shortcomings.

We stayed in 3 rooms back in late May 2008. All rooms were on Mali Wing (close to kids club). The ocean view room was great, lovely updated bathroom with rain-shower but smaller size than regular/superior room due to the angle of the builiding. The superior room was fine, the bathroom could use some upgrade (still using tubs no free standing glass shower). We loved the breakfast at Pakarang, choices were good. The location couldn't be beat. Less than 10 min away from Patong (I agree with many reviews that the taxi is hard to find), but we ended up hiring a local driver (Daj) who was ready to take us anywhere. This place is heaven for lazying under the sun, the beach is very clean (but could be rough) and the endless swimming pools is amazing! The kiddie pool with umbrella is perfect for little ones. We enjoyed fresh juices and beers from local vendors (only 2 on the beach) - not part of the property. Very reasonable price (80B for juice, 100B for cold singha). We also ordered pizzas at La Flamma. Good value, but could be cheaper outside. We did not ate dinner at the property, but saw Pakarang show from the library. I think the show a little tacky.
Walking along the beach in the quiet morning was amazing! We played a round of putt-putt/mini golf, unfortunately didn't play the archery nor ping-pong. These activities are located on the far side of the hotel and closer to the 'woods' where mosquitos and bugs are plenty. We loved the 'night market' at the lobby where local vendors open stands selling arts and crafts. You don't have to buy but give you something to see and stroll. The baby elephant was so cute, it made rounds around 3pm and 'curtsied' when you give some money.
Penguin Club for kids was just OK. When we were there only 2-3 other kids (besides our 2) checked in. The keepers seem to be very attentive. They even arranged the scheduled game for my 2 kids when no other kids were interested. (No wonder my kid was the winner!) Nothing special but might be useful just to get away from the heat in AC room.
Did I mention the swimming pools? So many of them.. from one end to the other! Just amazing.. lovely.. use the provided floaty and just drifted under the sun (i still can imagine this..) very nice!!!
The staffs were nice, I wished they had dedicated concierge. They suggested us to go to Chalong Bay for dinner and PanYaah in Patong. Both are more highend with OK food (we missed Baan Rim Pa).
Overall I will stay here again when I come back. The property is big and a little tired, but you will not find anything like it in Patong area (especially with a private beach).
I passed by Holiday Inn in Patong. It's a different type of hotel. You cannot compare the two. However, with young kids I will choose LM.

“Loved it, Would highly recommend the Le Meridien n Phuket”

Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort

We celebrated our anniversary at the Le Meridien resort in Phuket this month and LOVED IT! The grounds and resort are beautiful. The service is impeccable as are the rooms. The resort has its own private small beach with beautiful white sand and crystal waters. Check in was easy and they made us feel special. The room was newly renovated as were lots of areas at the hotel. It is at the border of Patong and karon areas, abit away from the hustle of the city but a lovely relaxing place. The hotel bus charges 100THB per person to go to the "happening Patong beach area". Shopping at OTAP market was ok, too much bargaining. Bangla road is fun to walk on at night. We had breakfast included in our rate and it was a gourmet, widespread buffet. We ate dinner one night and it was slightly pricey but really good. I would highly recommend this resort if you are celebating a special occasion are on your honeymoon or with small children.

The Meridien in Phuket has the most beauritful views. We knew it would be pretty quiet which was perfect for us, we had a sea view room .

The weather was fabulous, well into the late 80's every day and not a cloud in the sky.

Im only 28 and although I knew there would not be much nightlife, evening entertainment at the hotel would have been nice as there really wasnt much to do but overall the holiday was fantastic

“Fabulous”

Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort

A fabulous hotel, located about 10 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Patong beach, the Benidorm of Thailand.

The main appeal to the hotel is it’s private beach location, trapped between 2 coves, it has soft white sand and plenty of space to lie out and relax with a good book.

The pool area is enormous and the grounds are immaculate with impeccable tennis courts and gardens. A total contrast to Patong beach with it’s late night bars and lively clubs.

Food and drink in the hotel are expensive, but of exceptional quality and the rooms are comfortable and clean. We chose to eat out, there’s plenty of variety and fresh seafood is in abundance.

Taxi’s are plentiful for travelling into Patong beach, but prices for Tuk-Tuks have risen heavily; about £3-4 for a journey into town, which takes only 8 minutes.

Service in the hotel is 5 star and the Thai staff are always smiling and helpful.

Karon beach to the North is worth a visit, again accessible by taxi.

If you want the nightlife of Patong beach, but daytime peace and tranquility on a beautiful beach; this is definately for you.
