We arrived on the 9th of July and left on the 12th. We came from Surin after staying at the Twinpalms, and snorkeling all day at the Phi Phi Islands. We booked the room through the hotel website and got a great deal on it (about one seventh of what it would cost in high season). We had an Ocean View King, room number 1011, last one to the left of the stairs.
Skip talked to us when we arrived and explained how the hotel worked and where everything was. The hotel provides free shuttle service to and from the Kata and Karon beach areas all day long because the hotel is high on a very steep hill and a little difficult to find. The views were wonderful! The hotel has lots of DVDs for viewing, a lending library, free internet, a nice pool, and a pool table (not free).
The room was very large, with a kitchenette and large bathroom with separate shower. It looked almost like a small apartment. We watched some of the DVDs while we were there, and also enjoyed walking down and back up the hill as exercise. The room was very clean and bottled water was provided.
Breakfast was nice, fresh fruit, cereal, breads, yogurt, and some other things I can no longer remember. The hotel has a very mellow vibe and is very quiet. A good place to sleep.
Skip, the owner, drove us into town on more than one occasion and gave us good recommendations for restaurants. He drove us to Kata Noi as well, which we liked a lot because the water was clearer and there were far fewer people than at the main Kata area.
We really enjoyed our stay and have no complaints at all. It was a great place with friendly staff and a very pleasant atmosphere.
