Very impressed with this hotel.

Staff were all very polite, pleasant and couldn't do enough for you.

The public areas and gardens were well kept and constantly being cleaned, trimmed etc.The hotel has 3 pools, the lagoon pool was our favorite, again clean, tidy with plenty of sunbeds.

We had booked bed and breakfast, lots of choice for breakfast and slightly different dishes every day. We didn't eat in the hotel at night however often had a lunch time snack at the pool restaurant. Meals here were more expensive than outside the hotel but reasonable compared to UK prices. They were always tasty and well presented.

Couldn't fault anything at all about the hotel.

The resort itself was quieter than we expected however we soon got used to this. Patong was far busier and we went there a couple of evenings during our stay.

In Phuket, I had the taxi drive drive me from hotel to hotel and what I learned is that the BEST prices are on the internet. Each hotel quoted me more when I arrived than internet prices so I found a computer and booked the Centara Karon via internet which was cheaper than they offered me on the spot.
The beach was fair , nothing I'd go back to. The area is okay. We spent a lot of time in the pool. The rooms have 2 queen or 2 double beds and we added a rollaway. We thought Karon was a disappointment after having been to Phi PHi Holiday Inn first.
We loved the English pub outside and the corner restaurant Thai food is really good @ the Thail restaurant right outside the hotel. I paid 60 baht per kil. to do laundry, and found lots of places in Kachanaburi (later in the trip) that did laundry for 20 baht per kil.
Hey, it's a 5-10 minute walk across a busy road to the beach. THis hotel is NOT on the beach.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Centura Karon.

Overall I would say this is a great hotel - and considering how much we paid for the room (it's low season) it was a real steal.

I had a few small complaints about the hotel -

1) the water in the bathrooms was constantly a shade of yellow/brown. This was the same throughout the whole stay so we just got used to brushing our teeth with the complimentary bottles of water!

2) the toilet needed a bit of a bleach - I think this is just from where the brown water runs but it looked a bit dirty.

3) Got majorly ripped off on the last day of the stay. Accidently broke 2 of the small glasses in the room on the balcony - called housekeeping who were right outside our room who very quickly cleaned up the mess and glass - but when I checked out all of 15 minutes later, I found a charge of THB300 on my account. I obviously dont mind paying for damages but £5 seems a bit steep for 2 tiny glasses.

All-in-all these are minor complaints really. The breakfast was amazing, didn't have any problems with delayed service like some other reviewers have complained about, the spa was also very good. We had 3 treatments whilst we were there and the staff were extremely good - and rather enjoyed practising their English if you made conversation with them.

The proximity to the beach was great - not even a 5 minute walk - and there are a lot of bars, restaurants, supermarkets, money exchange offices and atm's en-route. It was extremely quiet at the end of May when we were there - you were lucky to see 4 people in any one of the bars near by - but this suited us perfectly!

One tip - get a tuk-tuk to Kata Beach (the next beach along) - there are some amazing restaurants there - one being a Thai restaurant up very high that involves a bit of a climb up some steep steps - but well worth it. There is also a fun place called Dino's in Kata serving Western food - but they have a baby elephant outside every evening whom you can feed and have photo's with - a must for kids (or big kids like us!).

This is just a nice hotel. It is very close to the beach and is build in harmony with nature. The pool is fantastic and so is the surrounding park.

The hotel has very good restaurants. The service staff is always smiling and willing to help. These girls are amazing and doing a great job. Breakfast is a feast, food and service are incredible. It's even better then 5 star hotels where we used to stay. Value for money should be the hotel name, you cant find a better deal anywhere in Phuket.

This is the kind of hotel where you can actually believe in the hotel photos on their website!.
