We have stayed here twice from 3 to 5 weeks each stay. It is a modern new serviced apartment building run by the Ascott group. We stayed one of the two Penthouse 1 bedroom apartments on the 22nd floor. The Penthouse suited us as it was 2 floors with the bedroom and ensuite on the top floor with views over the city and West Lake (Tay Ho), the main floor is spacious, with open plan lliving, modern well equipped kitchen, dining table for 4 and large LCD TV and stereo. All this overlooks a private courtyard that you can open up to let fresh air in (if you can call it fresh in Hanoi ?). This was a key reason for the room as the Penhouses are the only suites with a courtyard/balcony.
The location in Hoa Binh is OK but some may find too quiet. Still only a 10 minute cheap taxi ride to the Old Quarter and they have a shuttle as well. There is a grocery store in the building called Citimart (show your room card for 10% discount) as well as another one 2 mins up the road. If you are adventurous, across the road is local markets where you can get everything you need. A number of museums are walking distance and a large park in the area as well. It is a safe area and security is good. Like all of Hanoi, it's one of the safest places in Asia.
The staff and I mean ALL the staff are very helpful and will try and go the extra distance to please you or fulfil your requests. Just be patient sometime as speaking english to fast will create frustration on your part and interesting results to your requests. Remember just smile, don't lose your temper and smile, speak slowly...Highland Coffee next store is where you will learn this most :-).
There are numerous ATM's in the area including one beside the front door to the hotel and it's HSBC. The sports facilities are very good and great views to West Lake, the pool, sauna and SPA Centre are very good. Massage very good and manicure, pedicure very cheap.
You can call the hotel directly and ask for their specials, longer term stays are very negotiatable. Speak with the sales manager and bargain. Even their rack rate locally are reasonable.
