We came to this place only because we could not get a table for our party of 6 at Green Tangerine (which I promptly made a reservation for the next night but would recommend Tamarind over Green Tangerine really). It's a cosy little hideout with warm, inviting colours and free wifi (extremely important for this "smart" iGeneration). Everything we ordered from juices (some exotic local fruit combos), appetizers, main courses and desserts (pity they had run out of ginger and coconut ice cream) was excellent; in fact we could not resist ordering more and more just to try something different. Food came in super quick time. My only beef (pardon the pun! was a waiter coming back to confirm our order no less than 3 times, but this was probably better than having our order mixed up. It was not a super cheap meal in comparison to what you can get at the roadside stalls, but in terms of value for money and the hygiene factor, it would be certainly considered cheap by standards of a developed nation. My 11-year old twins scoffed at the idea of having vege only for dinner, but were suitably converted by the end of the meal. Stone's throw from the Hanoi Essence hotel where I stayed. According to the restaurant manager who hails from India, plans are underway to convert (perhaps add to, rather than convert) this to an Indian restaurant. Every reason to hurry before the curry takes over!
