To make a long story short, if it were not for the fast action by the staff at this hotel, my husband and I would not have made it into Vietnam from Indonesia to stay at this hotel due to a lack of a letter of permission to enter the country that my husband was supposed to get for me. We called them from Kuala Lumpor, told them our issue, and 3 hours later, with only a minute to spare to get on the next flight, they got us the letter. It was quite a feat, and now makes for a fantastic story. We could not believe how great they were. When we finally did arrive at the airport, our ride that we had sorted was waiting for us. I was SOOO glad that we arranged for the hotel to pick us up, as I have never heard so many stories about bad cab trips from one country as I did about Vietnam. It was quick and easy, and we arrived at the hotel in about 45 minutes or so. Our hotel room was lovely, and as it was Christmas Eve, they had put a christmas gift, and a christmas card in our room! Awwhh!!! We arranged a Halong Bay tour with them, doing the trip with dinner in a cave, and we loved it!! After the hectic arrival in Veitnam, hanging out in haloing bay for a couple days was a treat. We spent more than we originally planned to, but we were very happy. Only way it could have been better was if it had been warmer ( it was Decemeber, so I cannot fault.) When we arrived back at the hotel from Halong Bay to buy some tickets up to Sapa it all went wrong again. We could not find any tickets on the Night train. It was the only part of the 7 week trip I had not arranged. I asked the concierge to look as well, and he could not find any. He told us he even had his friend at the station keeping an eye out for spare tickets. After an hour he said he just could not find any ( I also had our hotel in Sapa looking, and the manager there could not find any either). So we resorted to booking a night bus. He got us tickets, and a cab to the bus station, and we just made the bus. Saved Again!!! It was a 12 hour ride to Sapa, and extremely comfortable for me with my eye mask and my ear plugs, but my husband did not sleep a wink. They played Vietnamese comedy until midnight at a volume the Health and Safety guys of England would not have tolerated. There was also no toilet, so I was lucky that my bladder decided that that was a good night to behave. So I made it no problem. But it could have easily been a very uncomfortable trip. We only stopped once at about midnight for 10 minutes. The bathroom left a GREAT deal to be desired. The service here was EXCELLENT!! Only thing I would change is the concierge was a tad bit of a sales man when we arrived. Oh well, otherwise we were very happy. Oh and right in the Old Town! Overall, EXCELLENT! Breakfast was Fabulous too!
