You need to remember you are staying at a budget hotel and not a resort. The rooms are clean and a/c works well. The staff are efficient and any issues (the battery in the safe was flat) are sorted out promptly. Breakfast was extremely good for this level of hotel with freshly cooked eggs and extras as well as fruit, cereal, toast and coffee. We had been to Hanoi before and the "manager" gave us some tips where to visit and eat, which we used and will tell friends about these places.
The area might seem a bit local to start with but we only heard two trains (it is very close to the train line) but turned out to be an excellent location and we felt safe at all times during the day and night. (We are two middle aged women). You are riight in the middle of the old quarter action in about 3-5 minutes and about 10 minutes from the lake in the middle of town.
They organised a transfer both to and from the airport. We only stayed one night as we had a trip to Sapa booked but they booked our return transfer to the airport four days later and invited us for a free breakfast (please leave a decent tip in the box on the desk). We also appreciate them helping us with a scamming issue that occurred. We will be returning to Hanoi and will be staying again.
