So I've been to Dragon Hotpot dozens of times. It's not the cheapest place around, but when you have a hankering for some simply fantastic Japanese - and you want something a little different from the same old sushi, sashimi, tenpura... well, Dragon has surely got you covered.
You must start the meal with a few plates of appetizers. From the crispy potato cheese balls to the spicy tuna tartare, the breaded oysters and the salad (get the sesame dressing!), it's all great, and it all sets the mood for the showstopper, the hotpot.
Hotpot-wise I can't really go past the sukiyaki. Big, bold flavoured broth cooked right at your table with delicately prepared beef, vegetables and noodles. It's so good I haven't even been daring enough to order any of the other styles of hotpot - of which there are many.
If you're like me, you'll need a 1.8L bottle of sake to wash it down. Owner, Hoshi, is the guy to ask about this. Wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable, he'll look after you and ensure your dinner is fantastic.
