“Nice service and conveniently located to everything you need (tours, restaurants, etc)”
This was my first personal visit as a traveller to Ho Chi Minh City. I found this hotel in a great central location along Pham Ngu Lao St, just 10 min walk away from the famous Ben Tanh market. It's truly a backpackers' heaven as tour agencies were aplenty along the entire street. In fact tour buses stop right next to Liberty 3 Hotel as a major pick-up point.
We noticed many pubs and restaurants along this road, but only managed to try Pho 24 (serving beef noodles and other Vietnamese food) and a bakery chain called ABC Bakery which serves delicious pastry and ham baguette.
Crossing the street can be a hassle as taxis mostly stop and park opposite road (the immediate lane in front of the hotel only allows motorbikes). My family were very grateful however to the hotel staff especially security who were constantly reminding us to watch our handbags and escorting us while crossing the street, at times, stopping traffic for us.

Breakfast was served upstairs next door, above Highlands Coffee, a coffee chain akin to Starbucks. It was a basic spread with an okay variety including an egg station, local and continental food. Breakfast tastes good and the coffee outlet environment was charming.
What I didn't like: The slow lift with low capacity and the slight difference in the tour booked with the hotel which wasn't what the brochure claimed.
I'd definitely return and stay in one of the Liberty Hotel chains again.
If you can't sleep in a noisy environment, ask for a room away from Allez Boo, the pub across th...
