I love the 252. The location is great; close to the shops and bars I love. The pool is lovely; not too hot but not too cold. The pool area is just as lovely. The staff are great. The rooms are furnished by one of my favorite furnishing designers. Cocktails are good and well priced. The ice cream and sorbets are the best ever. The staff make me a vegetarian omelette for breakfast as I do not eat bacon. The front desk will organize transport options and the like for you. The guests are always a mixed bag of interesting people. I find it hard to find much to complain about really. Even the management seemed nice to me. This would be why we choose to stay at 252 most times we go to Phnom Penh. The exception would be if we want to be on the other side of town we might stay at a different hotel but having stayed at at least 6 Hotels in Phnom Penh, I can confidently recommend this one.
One warning; the street it is in has a bad end. At night I would advise that you walk out to the main road. Turn right when you walk out the gate - not left. You will notice there are many gambling places and clubs to the left if you look during the afternoon and you will understand what I mean. My Khmer friends had to show me as I did not see the danger myself. Phnom Penh is a dangerous city if you are stupid. Do not carry a hand bag. Do not take a bag on a moto or at night. Pockets are handy. Walking down 252 to the left at night with a bag is asking to be robbed. Take care, walk right out the gate, avoid the river front and you might love Phnom Penh as I do.
