I enjoyed staying at Avilla Phasouk, as this place is now known. The rooms were cleaned every day, fresh water put in the fridge and my room (number 22) was big and had a bath and balcony. The bed was huge! I did have to move rooms 3 times before I ended up in that one, which was the most expensive. In the first there was too much noise from workmen next door, the second the shower head was broken and the third, the air con was not working, but the staff were very apologetic and helped me move everything.
The breakfast is included and is fine but does get a little repetitive...eggs, ham and little frankfurter sausages, plus an asian rice porridge, salad, French bread and multi grain bread with jam and butter and fresh fruit.
In comparison with other hotels in Vientiane I think overall it's a good standard. It is in a central location and was not noisy at night. It's right around the corner from some great cafes - Joma, Benoni and a Western supermarket.
