Agree with all the others.
This is a very nice hotel which is doing everything right. It is very clean and comfortable, and a good place to stay. Breakfast is fine - nothing special but enough for me. the buffet is free, but for a couple of dollars extra you can get a cooked one - I didn't and to tell the truth it did not look that good!

Very good location, and as others have noted close to some very good restaurants. Besides the French one round the corner (quite good steaks and a big salad), there is also The Gondola (Italian) next door where we had a couple of excellent pastas.

The free computers are a nice touch, and the reception staff are very good. The only downside was check out when the price had suddenly gone up to US$45 a night from the US$35 I had been quoted. I had a hard copy of their email and they gave me the lower rate without any trouble. I'm not sure if the US$45 is a permanent increase, or only around Christmas. Either way, for US$35, it is an excellent place, and even US$45 is pretty good.

Stayed there for a few nights: very nice room fairly priced, very clean and pleasant. OK breakfast, nice and helpful staff. Hotel is very conveniently situated, right by the Mekong River and right next to downtown restaurants. Highly recommended!

Booked via the contact details on the web and the immediate response was a good sign. Try and grab a room on a high floor as it gives you a better view of the river.
Rooms are simple yet spotless and our room had a fridge and a small balcony. Wooden floors and a comfortable bed. Bathroom was also functional and very clean.
There are a couple of good restaurants within walking distance and a particularly good French one just around the corner called Le Provencal which does an astonishing (watermelon sized!) souffle. There is a bar which doubles as the breakfast room and the breakfast is quite adequate without being anything special. I seem to remember the breakfast area is open air without a/c (so if you don't like humidity you may have to settle for a coffee in reception!).
Everything is within easy reach and the hotel arranged a transfer to the airport which was no more expensive than a taxi and far more convenient. Will certainly stay here again.

the recently renovated lao orchard hotel has to be the best value in vientiane.situated only 15 metres from the main riverfront road ,this hotel does its best to hide its existance by covering its ground floor sign in vegitation!...chao anou rd is near the end of the riverfront ,yet has a handy supply of shops and travel agencies nearby. all facilities (no swimming pool) are 4 star ,there are 2 free computors and a small,but adequate,breakfast is provided in the US$35 fee..a walkable location for all major inner city sights and the american style JOMA cafe....if you are coming from the friendship bridge border crossing by taxi ($10) the driver will drop you off at the front door...VIP bus to luang prabang can be arranged at travel agency around the corner including pick up to bus terminal (bus departs at 8am) and breakfast is available from 6.30am...reception staff are helpful at all hours.....
