If you want high end room, then forget about the Taj. If you want value for money and dont mind the minor details, then the Taj is for you. Location wise it was quite central, and only 5-10 mins walk to the Cinammon Grand and its adjoining Crescat Boulevard, a shopping mall with internet cafe, supermarket and food court.
The staff were welcoming and friendly. Lobby was nice and cosy. We requested a non-smoking room and had a nice sea view. The room was okay, nothing special, dated in places but fully functional. They provided 3 bottles of water every day and there is tea and coffee making facilities and a safe. The bathrom was clean but out dated with cracks and stains here and there. Even the bed linen I noticed was while clean had rents in them through washing which really should have been replaced.
Have to mention that breakfast every day was chaotic, not enough staff on hand or chefs to cook. Best to go early.
We dined at the Indian restaurant and that was quite delicious. Our favourite was the chinese restaurant Golden Dragon. The only thing was while we were there the entire week, chilli crab was off the menu as they had no crabs so we were very disappointed.
Despite all these things, we still enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
