First time staying at an IHG property for a day-long layover in Istanbul. Best thing about the hotel is that it has a lot of organized trips in Istanbul and its vicinity (even as far as Troy and Cappadocia). They do not take too long, some only last for 4 hours but do show you the most exciting attractions of the city, such as the Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sophia, etc. In terms of the rooms, they were spacious and I was totally enthralled by the exotic, ottoman-style decorations! The view of Istanbul, the Bosphorus, and Taksim Square, especially at dawn or dusk is super charming! Unfortunately the rooftop terrace+bar was closed for renovation when I was at the hotel so I did not get to enjoy seeing the city's skyline at night. The hotel is conveniently located at Taksim Square and is a short ride (either via the funicular+metro+tram or car) to most of the attractions and shopping areas of the city. Overall - high quality hotel with unparalleled Turkish hospitality and service! Downside - almost everything (including the internet) comes at a fee and is quite expensive!

Room tip: Rooms with a view of the Bosphorus are amazing.

Istanbul offer a lot of choices but, the Intercontinental remain at the top of my choices.
The location is perfect and level or services still very high.
Breakfast in terms of quality and quantity of available choices is fantastic.
Restaurant is very good.
Spa is very good but nothing extraordinary.

It's old, but still offer a superb experience.

Room tip: Highest rooms offer an excellent view.

A beautifully appointed high quality hotel. The room had a gorgeous view of the Bosphorus, and Asian side of the city. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and professional. The hotel from lobby to spa, to pool to bathrooms, was spotless. I can t say enough good things about our experience there. One, minor criticism. Unaccompanied minors (or children at all ) shouldn't be allowed to run wild in the club room. After a full day of business and touring, I would like a quiet room to enjoy a conversation, a cocktail and snack without having to deal with small children. I can't wait to return to Istanbul, and another stay at the Intercontinental Ceylon.

From San Francisco, CA

Room tip: Ask for the view of the Bosphorus/bridge. Spectacular! Room was very quiet, on a non smoking floor. Nice!

I originally only booked 2 days in InterContinental Istanbul as I want to stay in old town, new town and Asia side, but the excellent quality of this hotel made me end up staying here for 9 days.

I strongly suggest this hotel for female traveller because of the very convenient public transportation such as airport bus, metro, ferries, tram and public bus. ( there is many traffic jam and its not safe for women to take taxi alone). And this hotel is located in the highest hell which make its location very visible so you will not get lose that easy.

Moreover, its located at Taksim square which enhanced many police to be around ( more safe).

Their spa is very huge and clean. Its open from 5 am till 11 pm. very useful when you are exhausted from a long day of travel.

This is a great hotel in an ideal location just on the north side of Taksim Park, only a hundred metre walk to the Taksim Metro station. Kabatas ferry pier / tram stop is an eight minute downhill walk, or two minutes (6TL) in a taxi.

We had a superb Bosphorous view exec room on the 17th floor, and on a clear day could see out into the Sea of Marmara as far as the Princes Islands / Adalar!!

Reading other reviews, I'd agree that the rooms are just a little tired and showing their age. However, our room was spotlessly clean and everything worked fine. I'd much rather stay in a slightly older hotel that has great staff and professional service, then stay in a brand new plastic palace with poor staff (of which Istanbul has many!).

The Club lounge on the 16th floor offers breakfast, and a range of light snacks from 1800 to 2000. Soft drinks and coffee are available all day; beers and wine etc from 1800 to 2000. Again, great helpful staff. There's also a large coffee shop at the lobby level, and a top floor very upmarket restaurant with wonderful sea views.

Hotel internet is free for IHG Rewards club members (free to join) and is fine for everything other than streaming movies. The hotel has a good pool and spa, spacious public areas, and a delightful top floor bar with fantastic views of Istanbul. Like all prime hotels food and drink isn't cheap, but we felt that the hotel offered reasonable value for money.

This hotel is genuinely an oasis of calm and peace, in the middle of chaos! Its a great place to return to after a hectic day of sightseeing.

Room tip: Splash out for a room with a Bosphorus view. Its well worth it!
