“Good Location”

Hilton Istanbul

After booking a boutique hotel that tuned out to be youth hostel, I was glad to say to the taxi driver "take me to the Hilton". The hotel
is expensive for booking on the spot, also they requested a further charge of 45 euro's as the room had a view. Although generally, unless you are bedridden, or you want to spend hours looking out towards a better hotel, football stadium, and a river backdrop forget it. The over charging is not only limited to the views. The mini bar has to be the worlds most expensive one. As two cokes, the smallest Toberone available to man comes in at amazing 35 euros.

The indoor health club is adequate, along with the indoor pool, although you have to wear a swimming hat for the pool which makes everyone look like extras from the scifi series Space 1999. A good outdoor pool and tennis court give this dated hotel a bit of muscle. The location for the hotel is good, with Tasim square around the corner. Forget the talking bus with terrible commnentary, opt for a taxi to the Blue Mosque and hire a guide.

Be on your guard at all times and be very aware of a nice looking bar near the hotel called Bazim City, it may look nice, but you will get a nasty surprise when you get the bill, unless, of course you are a Turk.

Do not be tempted to stray off the main roads around Tasim after dark. It is not safe

The hotel bar on the ninth floor has some solid entertainment, with bar prices to match. The Breakfast is good, but the usual scrum occurs around 9am, so get there early or late.

The hotel is clean, the security is over the top, the location is excellant, it is good for sports, you cannot do much wrong staying here.

“No Longer the Gold Standard in Istanbul”

Istanbul has any number of luxury properties now and the Hilton is a bit dated. I have given the hotel four stars because I enjoyed a view of the Bosphorous from my room and that, in and of itself, is worth an extra star.

The TV and other amenities in the room need updating. Breakfast buffet was included in my room rate and was very nice. The spacious lobby is inviting and great for people-watching, if you can manage the cigarette smoke.

I have stayed in better properties in Istanbul, but this old standard is still holding up okay. Could be extraordinary if Hilton put some money into a full renovation of the rooms.

“Still the "old standard"”

Hilton Istanbul

This is still from all aspects the best choice in Istanbul - central, but quiet location, good access from all directions, fantastic views, excellent service, and comfortable beds. This time was upgraded to a high floor with Bosporus view which was really beautiful. Only minus was that the shower had very low pressure and the water wasn't hot enough. Much better shower in the the fitness room and hamam which are great, but a long walk from the main building. Breakfast was diverse and very high quality, with excellent Turkish coffee served on request. Forgot my phone charger and the concierge was happy to charge the phone during breakfast. All in all, very positive experience.

Nice rooms and bathrooms!! Good space and lots of nice amenities. Spa and pool very nice. But......... and this was a but, It was so noisy that is was difficult to sleep. There is a bar on the top floor that has live music that carries down to your room, also if you dont get a river view you are overlooking an industrial roof top. Nice!! the food was expensive and is worth walking up the street a few blocks instead!! If you're looking for a relaxed time I would think twice about this hotel.

“Bedbugs, beware!”

I was on a business trip for three days in Hilton Istanbul. The hotel was otherwise nice and good quality, but I found bugs on the first day from the room! I killed 3 and didn't find more after careful examination. Next day I found one more from the ceiling but didn't manage to catch it due to the ceiling height. Having stumbled into bedbugs once earlier, I didn't manage to sleep pretty much at all the first night. Overall, the hotel seemed to be tidy but there is something terribly wrong in housekeeping if you find bugs from the hotel.
