“A jewel in Sultanahmet”

Angel's Home Hotel

17 Jul 2008

angel's home hotel offers excellent service, charming staff, clean rooms and possibly the best location in istanbul for exploring the old city. we were only 5 minutes walk from the blue mosque, topkapi palace and the haghia sophia. the hotel is also surrounded by restaurants which are quite cheap compared to those on the main drag by the basilica cistern/tramline. the imam biyaldi-aubergines filled with veg- can be bought at sofa cafe across from angel's home hotel and it is delicious!
all the staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful or cheerful.shakeel organised a trip to the sulemaniye bathhouse for us and also found times for the ferry to princes islands.they were genuinely concerned that we were making the most of our stay and that everything was to our satisfaction. breakfast was the best experience as it was served on the roof top with commanding views of the bosphorous and the blue mosque. fab photo opportunity and the food was varied as well-try the apple tea and the dolmades.
our rooms were kept immaculate and turkish delight was left in our room each day. we had a family room with air con and it was spacious and clean. we loved our stay at angel's home and would definitely recommend it to everyone.

“Lovely little hotel”

Angel's Home Hotel

25 Jun 2008

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here over 5 nights.

Super location in the Sultanahmet district, walking distance to practically everything. Rooms were clean and comfortable, with lots of thoughtful touches in them. Staff were without exception friendly and helpful. Thanks in particular to the guys in the hotel who brought the European cup to life. As sad British non-participants, it was great to watch Turkey in action and we have now adopted them as 'our' team! Turkey have just scored against Germany as I'm writing this!!!!!

Istanbul is a fabulous city, very beautiful and atmospheric. Every touristic venue worth visiting and also don't miss Basilica Cistern.

Also have supper on the roof top of Seven Hills Hotel - lovely food and spectacular views of the Blue Mosque and Agia Sofia (and if you're lucky and free view of the 'Son et Lumiere' show where the Mosque gets all lit up).

Just watch the taxi drivers - the yellow cabs give you the feeling that there is a code of conduct, but unless you are absolutely sure of where you are going and how to get there, you could well end up getting fleeced.

Terrific value for money.

Angel's Home is a great home base for an Istanbul adventure. Located in the Sultanahmet, you are a stones throw from the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. The tram is also very close which takes you to all the interesting parts of the city. My room was great with comfortable beds, television and a fridge. There was lokum (turkish delight) left for us by the housekeeping staff which is a nice touch. The bathroom was good size and the shower was hot. There is a terrace on the roof where breakfast is served. From there you have a great view of the Blue Mosque. The staff are very friendly and there was not a single problem with the hotel. Well, the internet was slow but luckily there is another location a block away with a faster connection. The hotel offers free breakfast every day and a single free welcome dinner in their restaurant. Both were very good. i was slightly annoyed that some things are charged in euro (airport transport) and others in lira (food) but thats a minor issue. Angel's Home is definitely the place to stay when you're in the Ottoman Empire.

“Impressive First Stay”

I travelled to Istanbul after my high school graduation last June, and found this hotel online before hand while researching hotels that were priced cheaper. Needless to say I was impressed immediately as there was someone waiting for me at the airport right after I had my luggage. However, the area the hotel is in took my breath away, a very beautiful and historical district with plenty I wanted to see in good walking distance.

The staff was friendly immediately upon my arrival, and chatted with me for a while before I decided to wander around a little bit. The staff was friendly and incredibly informative during my stay, and I had a blast talking to one of the employees about soccer/football (Don't get much of that in the U.S.). They even helped me book a great tour for the next day around the city that made my trip. Also, be sure to check out the great view on the top of one of the hotel buildings of the surrounding city and water, it is very impressive.

For the price, the room was incredibly comfortable with every amenity that I could want. I even had a great view of the street with the Blue Mosque just down the block. The breakfast was delicious, as it offered me a wide variety of food I had never tried before. They even were able to get me to the airport an hour earlier than I expected because of a flight time change. In the end, I can't imagine staying at a different hotel, and I will be staying there every trip I take to the city.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
The staff were universally friendly and helpful, the rooms were very nice and the view from the terrace simply stunning.
All our requests - from wanting the room to be warmer to requesting a late check-out - were dealt with professionally and quickly.
This was my third visit to Istanbul and was certainly the best hotel i stayed.
Enjoy.
