as you arrive at the hotel you are greeted by many cats occupying all seats at the small lobby. dogs are also part of the scene. they will be guests at your bed if you leave the window open. the hotel comprises of two adjucent buildings. the good and the bad. make sure you don't end up in the latter.
hotel simple and clean. decoration its a matter of taste, very dark brown furniture and dark red bed linen cover. pretty oppresive. the view from the window is directly onto a carpet shop. the bathroom is clean but very small and unless very slim its very difficult to negotiate into the bath due to the shower screen.
to reach breakfast on the terrace with a view you need to climb 6 flights of stairs then decent down an iron flight of stairs (doesnt feel safe) to where breakfast is served. you need to be really fit to to reach the top. the stairs are quite deep so its not very comfortable even if you raise to the challenge
when you go downstairs its always in the dark. the lights is trrigerred by sensors which obviousely failed to operate effectively. so breakfast is pretty much a risky business.
staff don't speak english only the owners. its a family run hotel so you share breakfast internet cats and everything else with the rest of the family who dont interact with guests. this makes one feels quite uncomfortable.
the new owners are polite, distant and not particularly friendly.
if you book through an agency you may end up in a room not suitable even for a cat. do not accept. do not agree to pay for an upgrade just walk out. there are many better hotels which offer much better value for much less money.
i have moved to a different hotel and this made all the difference to the way i experienced istanbul. what a great city.
