“Great Zeynep”

Zeynep Sultan Hotel

14 Apr 2008

I stayed at the Zeynep with my boyfriend for 5 nights in August of 2006 and we loved it, the view from the terrace is unbelievable, the breakfast is very complete and the rooms are comfortable and very clean. Much more that you would expect for the price.
The owner is very friendly,as well as the whole staff. It was a wonderful first experience of Istanbul.

“a very nice experience in the heart of Istanbul”

Zeynep Sultan Hotel

1 Apr 2008

The Zeynep Sultan is a cosy and warm hotel in a very nice and quite location in the heart of Sultanahmet, very close to Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque and to Aya Sofia.
The rooms are a bit small but absolutely clean and very comfortable.
The owner and his staff (included the big red&white cat waiting for us at the reception) made us feel at home.
They have been really kind and helpful with us.
We strongly recommend this hotel to small groups and families.

The Zeynep Sultan Hotel was perfect. It was incredibly clean. It had a perfect location in the historic Sultanhamet area (steps away from the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia), and the service was impeccable. Just some examples of the amazing service:
- A driver from the hotel picked us up from the airport free of charge.
- A hotel employee gave us a ride to a local Turkish Bath one evening.
- We enjoyed a free breakfast from the hotel's rooftop every morning.

By the end of the trip, the employees had become our friends. They even took us out for dinner one evening. It was really nice to feel so at home so far from home.

Definitely stay here if you can!!

This hotel is a fantastic value! We paid 59 euro per night for a double room, and it was worth every penny. The location is among the best in Istanbul - few minutes walk to all the major attractions (Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, etc) and 2 blocks away from a tram stop, yet tucked away on a quiet street away from the crowds and the noise. The hotel staff were very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. We were shown several room at check-in and were allowed to choose. We picked a relatively large room overlooking the Zeynep Sultan mosque. The prayer call was rather loud in the mornings, but we slept through it most days. As other reviewers mentioned, the view from the terrace is amazing, especially at night. The breakfast was There is also a computer in the lobby with free internet, which was a big plus.

Great location, terrific views from the roof top terrace, great price, amd some staff quite attentive. So what's not to like?

First, this place is very noisy; were street noises not enough, there is NO insultation (did Marc Cohn write "Paper Walls" while staying here?). But the issue that placed me into orbit was the wonderful sign posted in the lobby for smokers to be considerate of others... while the clerk chain-smoked less than 3 meters away.

Istanbul is a smoking city and smoke-free zones are non-existent, but the Zeynep makes a mockery of appealing to non-smokers.

If you're deaf and smoke heavily, the Zeynep is for you.
