We loved staying at the Med Cezir! The location couldn't be better, just a few steps from Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The room we had was larger than many we've had oversees, it even included a single bed so that when one of us starting snoring, the other had an escape. Large windows made the room look very cheery. The bathroom was a bit run down, but the hot water was plentiful. At 45 Euros with breakfast, it was a great deal. Unlike another poster, our room was cleaned everyday and we got fresh towels. Breakfast was average. A great place to stay for those who want a comfortable and clean budget option.

We stayed at the Med Cezir (pronounced med-jez-eer) hotel located at Tevkifhane Sk. No 6, which is basically right across the street from the Four Seasons, and just 100' from the Baths of Lady Hurren where the Government Carpet Shop is located.

We were there three nights (the 2nd to 4th of November), and stayed in room #8, which for us was a double bed with shared bathroom (only three rooms share two bathrooms, one with a shower/bath) on the third floor. We paid 60L per night, which included a very nice breakfast.

The room was clean, comfy, and quiet (at the back of the hotel) as were the bathrooms. The common areas were also clean. We were given fresh towels everyday. There was lots of hot water.

The stairs are very steep to the third floor, but from there you can access the rooftop terrace, which has an extraordinary view of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia, as well as some archeological excavation next to the Four Seasons. The terrace was unfurnished for the winter, but still a lovely place to sit in the morning and look at the view.

Erol, the owner, and Sabo, the assistant, were incredibly nice and hospitable, and we ate dinner one night in the cafe which was tasty, if expensive (though fairly normal for Sultanahmet). The meze platter was a nice sampler, including some things we hadn't had before.

We would heartily recommend this hotel, and will stay there again when we're in Istanbul next. (Which hopefully is soon!).

Med Cezir Hotel has a great location. You are in a short walking distance to all the sights and shopping. But they only except cash up front for your whole stay. Rooms are minimal and a bit dingy, They provide linens, but do not change/or make your bed, during your stay. The rooms do not have AC. So if you go during the hot months..beware! The rooms can get very hot, stuffy and uncomfotable. They do provide a fan, but there is only one outlet in the rooms and the fan uses it. You only have the overhead light that is not real bright. Rooms are also very small. Breakfast was good. Boiled egg, bread, cheese, sausage, olives and tomatos. Staff was friendly. However if it were not for its great location, I would not recommend this hotel.

I had a wonderful time there...the owners and workers were great fun to get to know. It is very quiet...a plus if you're trying to sleep! It is cerntrally located so you can walk 5 minutes and be at the Blue Mosque or Hagia Sophia. If you walk the other way you will wander in the Sultanhamet and there are very happening places there if you want to have fun
